  1. I also went to school with him and he was in one of my Higher classes. He never said much, but what I do remember him saying was usually wildly inappropriate. There must be legions of disappointed "hens" in Aberdeen that have had him show up to strip off at their parties...
  2. When I was in Canada last year my boyfriend hadn't changed his money beforehand and did it when we got there instead of at the airport. The rate of exchange was worse because he had Scottish notes and there was a different rate for Scottish and English. We worked out that he would have got between 5-10 more had he gone to NatWest and got English notes before we left. The thought that the rates could be different never crossed our minds. o_O
  3. I have 2 tickets to Rob Brydon and we don't really want to go anymore. 35 for the 2. Seats are in stalls Row K at the side.
  4. Price now 3,700 and taxed till August 2009.
  5. I am selling my 03 reg Polo: - 48,000 miles (below average) - 3 doors - jazz blue - MOT Aug 2009, Tax Feb 2009 (but will likely be buying it a new 6 month disc this week) - Full VW dealership service history. It was serviced a fortnight ago and so has 2 new tyres, new brake fluid, 2 new brake pads and a new front anti roll bar. - Computer, alloys, remote locking, alarm, "climatic" air con, immobiliser, electric windows and mirrors, heated wing mirrors, radio cassette and 6 CD changer mounted into radio unit. - Immaculate blue/grey interior - 2 owners from new - Sport styling including foglights. 3,950 o.n.o. It's my first car and I'll be very sad to see it go but my work offered me a good deal on an all-inclusive company car package that I couldn't turn down. Has always been very reasonable to insure. PM for further info/pictures or to arrange a viewing. Location is city centre.
  6. As we have been speaking cinema and films, I hate how Vue has gone to allocated seating. Fair enough if they had had it all along, but now they've swapped over, in my experience absolutely nobody follows it, then one of the aforementioned people coming in 10 minutes into the bloody film will be the ones that absolutely MUST have their own seat G7 or whatever and cause an almighty fuss, even though there are plenty of seats left and they're so late noone else will be coming. However at Cineworld where they've always had it the thing that annoys me is people sighing and tutting and looking at you like you're a complete loser for wanting to avoid hassle and take your own seat when you know it's going to be sold out and eventually some poor sod will have to come in and play the game of shifting around a chain of people until they get back to the first bastard that just sat his arse down anywhere (that poor sod used to be me which is why it annoys me so much). People stick to their own seat at the theatre or the football, I don't get why they can't do it at the cinema
  7. I'm hoping it will too. I think it will, there was a fair amount of snow! Had to go through Dufftown and all the cars had 2-3ft of snow on their roofs and spotted a one storey cottage where all the snow from the roof had slipped down and whoever lived there would have been genuinely snowed in with about 4 ft round the whole place. At the Lecht the snow was too deep for the two beginners tows to work so only the carpet was operational. The queues were massive.
  8. The Happy House on Great Northern Rd seems to be shut now.
  9. I'm just back from the Lecht. 6 hours of driving for 2 hours of snowboarding. Possibly the most stupid thing I've ever done given the state of the roads. The Lecht is very good for beginners. I find that the most difficult part of learning to snowboard is mastering the tows, and the Lecht has a magic carpet so you can get the hang of the basics before worrying about poma tows etc.
  10. I tried the Eagle May at the top of the Beach Boulevard for the first time at the weekend, and was not impressed one little bit. I was 2 more expensive then anywhere else I've been for the same meal and whereas usually I get 2 full sized meals out of a takeaway, I ate it all (and I ate about the same amount as usual.) I do like Wok Wok and Big Wok. My rule is that the more skanky they look though, the nicer the food tends to be.
  11. When a car is driven at 50mph in a 60 zone, then only slows down to 45mph when they hit a 30 zone. So, going slowly in an area where it can be hazardous by causing impatience in other drivers, then speeding in an area where it really is safe to go slower. Where is their logic? Bonus pet hate points if it is a "performance" big engined car like a BMW or Audi being driven by a middle aged woman (see: the A90 from Aberdeen to Peterhead)
  12. I go to FiFis Hairrazor as well but I am always 30 for a cut and blow dry with student discount I think! There is no mucking about with her, no offer of a drink and a biscuit though. Last time I went in the morning after a night out and was quite conscious that I might have been reeking of booze, but instead she told me quite matter-of-factly that I'd obviously had garlic for my tea last night. Quite embarrassing but shows that there's none of the usual hairdresser chat.
  13. Crappy mobile picture of Bert looking a bit huffy. Older pic, he is now on the wagon. (Note I have never actually given my hedgehog alcohol.) He isn't very photogenic, he is actually a lot cuter.
  14. My main gift this year was a lino sample that my parents had got from a flooring place and then painted on it that it was an IOU for new lino for my kitchen. My mum likes to give practical gifts but be imaginative with it. I was really pleased, I love practical gifts these days and the kitchen still has the manky carpet that was there when I moved in. Other great presents included ear muffs, the Russell Howard DVD, 5 bags of chocolate coins (all from different people o_O), an alarm clock and a set of darts.
  15. When a cyclist is using the road as they should be, but as soon as it isn't convenient, they become a pedestrian. Red light? Oh hey, cyclist is on the pavement. Crossed the junction? Back on the road! Even hardcore cyclists with all the proper gear that you'd think would know better seem to do this all the time. Alternatively, when you're at a gig waiting for the bands to start up and it's not very busy so you're not squashed, but some self centred person with absolutely no awareness of their surroundings comes along and starts fidgeting. Not even flinging themselves about wildly, but turning round to talk to people etc, and jostling you just a little bit, every single time. Then you move to avoid it and somehow within 5 minutes they have moved too. Twenty minutes of being gently jostled by a fidget when I am managing to stand fucking STILL and I'm feeling pretty sour. Bonus point if they have a giant backback that they somehow seem to have miraculously forgotten that they have on.
  16. First 17 years of my life were spent there. I went through a period of hardly going back but recently I've been visting the parents more often, and I'll be back at Christmas
  17. York St in Peterhead?!? My rockstar name would be Tiptoes York... My username is a word that I plucked out of my head at the time of registering as I suck at picking out usernames.
  18. The lower floor of that place *always* smells minging, your experience was not an unpleasant one off. Seems to vary between fish/vomit/toilets. We don't usually hang about in that place anymore and go straight to somewhere else, but it seems to be habit that it's the first place we wander into of a night...
  19. December is my offices busy season... most corporate tax returns are due in by the end of the month. It's not been too bad so far, not too much overtime
  20. Were there more happenings in that area last night? I drove by as a policeman was busily taping up Exodus/TK's.
  21. Slains was heaving as per usual. There were a lot of really good costumes, it was nice to see people putting so much effort in.
  22. I made a mistake there, the rent was put up BY 200 a month not by 400... it's now 1,200 a month for the whole place. My friend moved in to replace someone halfway through the lease, then was on holiday when it was time for the lease to be renewed. I don't know if he's signed it yet since he got back. I think he was going to refuse unless they fixed stuff. He isn't annoyed by the mess that has obviously been caused by his flatmates since they moved in, it's the things that have obviously been caused by years of poor maintenance that he's lobbying for.
  23. Stewart Property Services aren't my favourite for letting the flat below me out to junkies and not noticing that they'd trashed it until they got arrested one day (seriously, they took 2 months to refurbish it after they went and even had to replace interior walls o_O). They also rented a different filthy flat out to a friend of mine for a year that included amongst other gripes: 2 non-working kitchen appliances, walls lined with tin foil, not a single comfortable chair, windows that didn't open, very dodgy wiring that meant no lightbulb ever lasted more than 5 minutes and the most minging bathroom I've encountered in a long time. They put the rent up by 400 this last month without fixing any of it. In conclusion, don't use Stewart Property Services as I don't think you'd be guaranteed good tenants and they'd let your flat rot.
  24. I was reading about Springheeled Jack and people have been claiming to see him for a longer span of time that a man could have lived for. I suppose maybe if you breathe fire and can clear 6 foot walls in one go you would maybe be immortal too, who knows?! o_O
  25. Hmm, well I know that on a bus you can use a return to go the same direction twice but I wouldn't want to risk getting on a train only to be chucked off! It's up to you really.
