  1. Hi Folks,

We played at Drummond's on Friday and, when we loaded into the venue in Glasgow on Sunday, it became apparent that my cymbal bag had disappeared.

Unfortunately nobody in the band can be certain that they were with our equipment as we loaded out from Drummond's on Saturday afternoon. They are definitely not anywhere in the venue. The police have been called, and hopefully CCTV scrutiny will yield something.

If anybody encounters a STAGG cymbal bag with any/all of the following contents, please get in touch with me:

    *14" Sabian AAX Hi hats

    *18" Sabian AAX Crash Cymbal

    *20" Sabian AAX Ride Cymbal

*Black LP Tambourine (which was a present and has a lot of sentimental - and monetary - value

*Meinl stick bag with assorted gubbins

    Thanks

  2. I've got some free 2-week trials for Drag The Bar if anybody wants one. You can see coaching videos from Leatherass, Jeremy Menard, BeachJustice, GiantBuddha, Jared Tendler and many more top names in the online poker world. Plus me. O, and there are some coaching videos for you live poker players too.

PM me if you want one.

  3. Ryan Jack and Josh Magennis both scored last night in the Under 21 fixtures. They'll start banging them in for the Dons starting on Saturday. (or maybe that says that scoring at U21 international level is easier than domestic competition and Rigter's record there should be discounted). Anyway, I'm going to trust CB and AK to look beyond Wikipedia and make a decision as to whether this boy will enhance the team :)

    Barca, Schmarca. Yawn.

  4. Christy, I've noticed your appreciation for Hartley before and I find it totally baffling. He was at best a mediocre player for us. Saw him have one stand out game (out of all the home games I went to, and the 3-4 away ones) and that was it. Meant to be experienced but got sent off for kicking out at a boy and helping us to lose 3 points (or a point). Didn't seem to motivate anyone especially, either. Total fallacy.

For the record, I wanted to like him. I convinced myself over and over he was a good player but eventually reality sank in within 2-3 months. Average at best.

Simple as this: last season we were absolutely terrible and could well have been relegated. We needed people to be step up and Hartley's presence in the midfield stopped us being run over in certain important games. He was our third most important player last season, behind Bebo and Vernon.

If you don't see how important Hartley was, just look at how we performed without him. Besides a pumping of Killie (which was great!) we sorely missed his influence.

His red card for retalitation was bad. No excuses. I'm not saying that he was without fault, but Jesus, there were tons more responsible for our struggles than Hartley. He was a good signing, all things considered.

  5. Some serious revisionism regarding Hartley going on. How quickly some of our fans turn on their own! The team nosedived when he got injured...the likes of Langfield, Diamond and Considine showed that they couldn't be relied upon, and yet we turn on the one leader who showed some spirit? Yes he was clearly struggling with injury from January onwards, but there are many more culpable for our woes last term. Diamond was our highest earner, and contributed about 1/10th of what PH did.

The Craig Hignett as our highest ever earner on 6700 has been quoted in numerous articles over the years. I find it hard to believe that we were paying 8k p/w in 1995. Obviously I might be wrong, but the common consensus is that Hignett was the biggest ever earner.

  6. Without Hartley's goals and influence last season I think we would have gone down. As soon as he got injured we absolutely nosedived.

Bernard was a good signing (and tlak of him being on 8k is lol....Craig Hignett is our all-time highest earner at 6700 p/w) but had huge injury problems. No doubting his abilities as a player.

  7. To be fair to Bougherra, at least this time he didn't try to pull the ref's hand down in the pathetic hope that the red wouldn't count...

Naismith grabbed the referee's shoulder at the McCulloch booking incident, and was lucky that the ref just shook him off and gave him a look

  8. Christ on a bike how ridiculous was Whittaker's sending off? The club should fine him a month's wages for that moment of madness which went had a big hand in helping get his club get dumped out the Champions (and 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th placed) League. He should be ashamed of himself, utterly needless, so early in the game as well. Anyways is the Scottish standard so pish nowadays they have to enter at such an early stage? And they only have one team in it now? Oh well trips to Easten European sides no-ones heard of or can even pronounce for the huns. They may get a glamour tie against Fulham or Stoke should they progress tomorrow night! Or even Birmingham when they enter!

Whittaker did the same thing (albeit he booted it rather than threw it) at Chris Maguire last season. The referee did nothing, despite it occurring right under his nose.

Bottom line: it was not a moment of madness; Whittaker did it because no Scottish ref would punish him for it.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them penalised for some absurd challenges last night. They behaved no worse than they do every week domestically, but this time they got two red cards and five (?) cautions. And the ref certainly was lenient towards McCulloch, MacGregor and Naismith; it was two reds going on five.

  9. I was following Barton's Twitter yesterday and thought he was trying to talk himself into trouble. Comes across as a typical egotist who isn't nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Fud of the highest order. He'll be playing for Rangers within three years.

Had the 'Jeffries or McMoist - who will be sacked first?' convo with Shaki and Adam EW last week. I thought JJ would go, but McMoist won't last until May 2012
