  1. I second that! Rubycon by Tangerine Dream - Superb music that will blast you into oblivion! Apollo Soundtrack - Brian Eno Also, not sure if it's been mentioned or not but the Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis is also fantastic.
  2. I presume when planning for that was granted, they had already known that the lemon tree was to be shut down later on in the year? I'm giving them benefit of the doubt that they weren't planning on having two such places open in Aberdeen? Although it's a shame the venue has closed, I agree that there's no shortage of venues in aberdeen. That's literally just common sense given the events of the past few years.
  3. not really surprised at all. I remember a couple of years ago when they had that problem with a certain manager. . . They found around 50,000 worth of uncashed checks in the former manager's desk drawer. I also remember being told that they were paying 100 to 200 to bands for playing lunch time gigs, when the place was empty? Whats that about? Last time i played in front of around 250 people at the wishbone ash gig and only got 50. Only 40 after they charged us to use their amps - we had to as the gig was only confirmed literally two days before. So yeah, i'd put it down to shite management.
  4. hahaha The song isn't particularly serious. heheh. We wrote the music long before any of the vocal ideas. considering the way the heavier parts worked out, we were thinking more along the lines of a semi-serious song about going mad - so make of it what you will. Although the screaming, manic laughter and coughing are all to be taken VERY seriously
  5. cheers lewis The vocals on the track are something that I have also been unsure about. Some of the backing vocals are a bit 'over-kill' in the mix as well. The semi-operatic vocal style is also something that although i wasn't so keen on at first, have grown on me. Any more feedback on the song and vocals would be extremely helpful so anyone feel free to let us know what you think. Cheers folks
  6. Hey everyone. The Snake Temple Kings have a mix of the "Ad Nauseam Trilogy" ready for your listening pleasure. If you have a spare 11 minutes, then i hope you can stick with it and enjoy it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like to think the "Ad Nauseam" title sums it up nicely. (I hope it's not too pretentious for you!) anyway, here's the link MySpace.com - The Snake Temple Kings - Aberdeen, UK - Progressive / Psychedelic / Rock - www.myspace.com/thesnaketemplekings I had to seriously sacrifice sound quality for Ad Nauseam, as the file was too large to fit onto the site But let us know what you think nevertheless. Cheers Rory
  7. I once saw an old lady walking through my mates bedroom one night. . . At a later date another person saw her sitting on the rocking chair at the back of the room. Numerous spooky things happened in that house. The moorings bar - now there's an interesting place for ghosts!
  8. The music isn't really my cup of tea, but instrumentally it sounds good. Good guitar arrangements. I can just make those out in the recordings! I think its you're instrumental work that has the potential. As other folk have pointed out, however, the vocals are the weakness. I've never really been a fan of the screaming-style stuff, however even from my point of view, the vocals could be greatly improved. A better recording of the songs would, obviously do yourselves more justice, so i hope you can work towards that. Hope that helped.
  9. WOuld have gone to this however was suffering a DREADFUL hangover which meant i would spend the whole day in bed. I did see them at Wickerman Festival and they were actually brilliant then. Def one of the highlights of the event.
  10. Cheers for the feedback Yeah, the vocals are the one part I'm also unsure about. They have been growing on me, but i don't feel they should really have to, so if anyone else has an opinion on them let us know. And yeah I have heard "Space Shanty" A generous fellow not long ago gave me his copy on LP - in stunning condition as well. This was a really moving moment for me. The album is good, but i still prefer his later works. Got the remastered "open" on cd, and apart from the few absolutely dreadful tracks, there are some real crackers on there Just bought a copy of Hawkwind's "levitation" on LP. Has been discontinued for ages on CD, but found a copy on ebay. Yes!!!! Anyway, more feedback on our work so far is very welcome guys Cheers
  11. I have just updated those two tracks. They now have vocals and something much closer to our final mix. It'd be great to hear some thoughts on the recording side of things as well. Please, let us know what you think.
  12. Um-bungo night. Yeah, went to a couple of those and they were actually really good nights. Anyone know when the next um-bungo is? I seem to remember it being in the Tunnels also. . . Some of the d'n'b i hear in kef makes me want to bash my head off the wall. (or stick my face under those stupidly hot taps). Would be good to hear some more ambient d'n'b there. Or maybe some psytrance. I'd love to see Eat Static or System 7 in there
  13. I go to Kef occassionally. Went in there on a weekend recently, and i was completely sober. . . You really notice how much of a shithole that place is when your sober. There are some really arses there as well. Theres this one guy i see there occassionally who stole a lot of money from a friend of mine. . . Have had stuff stolen from there on two seperate occassions, and a friend had stuff nicked, which in turn ruins what would hav e been a good night. Also, what the fuck are those steaming hot taps about? Either don't wash your hands or get second degree burns on those things. Next time I'm in there ill bring some bloody teabags and we can all drink tea in there.
  14. And we're playing this Sunday at the tunnels, if anyone is interested . . .
  15. cheers for the feedback folks. The mellotron you're hearing on "our vision" is actually a genuine mellotron, courtesy of Phil who also recorded the flute parts for us a while ago. I don't think any emulator is that good Anymore feedback from you folks?
  16. Alright folks. Got a couple of more songs for your listening pleasure, hopefully. The vocals are still unfinished in these tracks, but we thought we'd get some feedback on what we've done so far. The two new tracks I've put up are, "Round and Round" and "Where did you go?" (which is the re-recording of a previous effort). Hopefully I'll be able to put up the rest of our Trilogy up soon also. As far as i can tell at the moment, only one of the new songs has actually processed but given a short while, both songs should be available for you to listen to. Anyway, please let me know what you think of our tracks so far. It's always appreciated Cheers Rory Oops, almost forgot the link. . . www.myspace.com/thesnaketemplekings
  17. Yeah that was mental. The Orb and Easy Star All Stars definately the highlights for me. Eat Static were also good, but i was a little let down by Jah Wobble's set. Seemed a bit lacking and unrehearsed. God the Reggae tent was also fantastic. Infact, so many of the DJs at the festival were brilliant. Bring on next year!
  18. Both these items are now going for 150 a piece.
  19. For christ sake. I was coincidently in Glasgow on thursday night and was not aware of this. I would have loved to have gone. Guh. I got to start keeping my eyes peeled more. Pretty gutted now.
  20. Currently reading Valis by Philip K. Dick Jeez its pretty nuts. Hoping to finish it soon to go onto Michael Moorcock's "Dancers on the edge of time". Anyone familiar with Moorcock's work? Also read Moorcock's "Behold the man". Lovely piece of blasphomy
  21. Yeah both those videos were pretty disturbing to me. Made me feel quite sad. The way in which those cows were slaughtered, however, isnt depicting the norm. In this country, at least, it just wouldnt be allowed to happen, knowingly.
  22. Yeah, the vocal effects unit that was being used does seem to cause some problems, so i have no doubt that that was the main reason for whatever vocals may have been lost in the mix. Our drummer, Thomas, often plays very complex rhythms which can be hard for the rest of the band to play in time with. This can result in confusion, which means that its very important our on stage sound is right. Still, i hear what you're saying about the clutter, which can only further confusion to trying to hear each other and stay perfectly in time. We're currently re-recording all our music, overdubbing everything. This will hopefully allow for us to listen to all the parts in greater detail, and allow us to cut back on any unnecessary instrumentation while developing what we've already got. I'll be sure to inform folks of when these recordings have been done, and hopefully they will be featuring Nik Turner of Hawkwind on them too which should be fun Cheers for all the feedback though. We genuinly find it useful and so will use it constructively!
  23. one of the worst things in Aberdeen, eh? Hehe. Well feedback is feedback, so thanks for giving your thoughts. I will say in our defence that essentially we had seven different instruments on stage, and a soundcheck would have been very helpful. I have played the moorings before without soundchecks and its all been ok, but on this occassion i was left dissappointed. I would also perhaps agree that there is too much happening at once at any given time, which is something we'll have to work on. I'm not totally downhearted however, as we played a gig supporting Wishbone Ash at the LT in October. It was the same set, but we played a lot better, the sound was a lot better, and as a result we got lots of positive feedback. Onwards and upwards I say. We'll work on refining our sound a lot more, and hopefully, if you see us again, you'll see improvement. Also, Indafusion were bloody ace. As ever!
