  1. Homer: Doh! Lisa: A deer! Marge: A female deer.
  2. Is it just me or is that lightning scorch a really cool t-shirt design?
  3. I phoned One Up an hour or two ago and they hadn't received tickets, "yet". They were on the case though (waiting for the postie, phoning up, searching behind the fridge or some combination of all) but I suspect that list is just in general for PCL so may not apply to all shows.
  4. that makes sense, pr company's mistake, gig is definitely Snafu then!(It's listed correctly as that on at the Video Nastie's website btw) Tempted to come along & take pics if I can free up that evening for fun
  5. Got an email from a PR Bod earlier this evening saying the Video Nasties, Swanton Bombs and Threatmantics gig was "22nd Jan @ Aberdeen Barfly". Any word on if that move from Snafu to Moshulu is confirmed?
  6. Okay, I retract my "the indiscriminate bombing of a civilian population" and replace with "Israel not giving two shits about murdering innocent bystanders when targetting security threats". A common argument from there mentions "well the Hamas are targetting innocent civilians" and the rebuttal is "well, aye - that's what makes it fair to call them terrorists, the bad guys. Governments, armies, Israel for example, are generally expected to play the part of good guys and protect non-combatants life & property. These air strikes will always destroy, injure or kill more than the target." Imagine if the UK government had launched air strikes on Londonderry, managing to destroy a whole row of terraced housing & their resident families in an attempt to kill two or three bombers living at number four. I don't believe the scale of Israel's action against the threats is anywhere near justifiable.
  7. I take it you disagree with the phrase you've bolded? Why?! Air strikes targeting buildings in heavily populated areas fail to make any distinction between the people they actually kill.
  8. End is that Gaza Strip will exist no longer, Israel will steal it much like they did with, urmm, the whole rest of Israel, United Nations will impotently waggle a disapproving finger while the US supports the indiscriminate bombing of a civilian population cos like Jews are rich lobbyists and arabs are like y'ken terrorists.
  9. To all the aberdeen-music folks Highlights of 2009 so far include 3 mobile failing to apply top-up credit meaning all my pals think I'm dinghying them, nothing ever changes... Also, Jools Hootenany - were Dara O'Briain & Lenny Henry really trying to get it on with Duffy?!
  10. hrmm, I'm not certain my most used websites fall into the same thing as being my favourites. they sound dull when listed... most used: Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing Twitter: What are you doing? Facebook | Welcome to Facebook Last.fm - Discover new music with free internet radio and the largest music catalogue online Alternative Nation BBC - Homepage For keeping track of heaps of blogs: http://www.google.com/reader/ and obviously my own! SpoiltCat.com Couple others that I'd favourite if I was trying to look cool are more interesting though "" xkcd - A Webcomic - Party ::iLL WiLL PreSS:: HOME OF NEUROTICALLY YOURS, 4Y-RECORDS & MORE. (for Foamy)
  11. No.GPS receivers are completely passive - handhelds, in-car satnavs or whatever, they never transmit (unless you bluetooth data to yer PC!). The only way to find out a GPS or satnav device's location is to read the data directly from it. If the police found one in yer bag after the fact then they'd know where you'd been & when but could never track it remotely. This is why Hollywood & the NSA still find you via your mobile phone. I <3 my wee GPSr
  12. Good point. I was confusing websites for a bit there - the one I had in mind only allows Trading Post style threads to be started by already existing & contributing members. Any account seen to be joining purely for commercial purposes (eg. selling a ticket) needs approval from site admin or removed as spam.
  13. I think you've got the best idea here Neil.Possibly have a guideline rule that the face value (+ booking fees) must be given in the post selling the ticket so that there is no doubt if the selling price is fair or not. The reputation system and posts showing disapproval are better ways to discourage touting in general I reckon.
  14. Hrmm, Levellers on the 17th/18th, Gogol Bordello on the 19th & The Lorelei on the 20th. If I die at least I'll be happy...? :\
  15. It's good that they're choosing a song best suited to the winner's style & talent (lol) rather than forcing the winner to to fit their pre-chosen song.
  16. I'm not exactly certain if that hand-counting votes was wholly accurate... Results are here though.
  17. all I have to say on the matter is that this is the first user-generated item on the news I've seen today that has spelled her first name the way she did rather than saying "RIP Betty" (which has left me wondering all day how Betty Boop could have died...)
  18. I've not even bought a 2009 calendar yet but already it has 3rd April circled in red
  19. thanks for the good response so far guys 5th December at Tunnels 2 (I never knew they had two areas in the place btw...) is good for me, funk, hip-hop & electro sounds like a good night too - I'll PM you. Friday 12th @ Moshulu is also good for me, however it's my birthday on the 19th and I'll be in Glasgow that weekend so I best not promise anything for the 18th sorry, PM'd you about Moshulu though. Not going to be able for that date sorry, (birthday shenanigans in Glasgow that weekend), sounds like a good line-up though - I recognise a couple of the band names there.Any other takers (for times other than Dec 17th-21st!!!)? Also, thanks to Fudge for their PM & info on gigs they promote
  20. oh also, I couldn't find rules for the Trading Post section so sorry to site staff if this is all out of place or inappropriate!
  21. I enjoy taking gig photos, luckily; because it's been part of my work for 5-10 years. But I've only just returned to be beased in Aberdeen this month after 14 years absence - I have no experience of any of the current venues here! If you're in a band or represent one playing in an Aberdeen venue, or maybe a promoter or venue and want photos of your gig then I want to take them For a limited time I'm willing & prepared to do this for free. The pros: I'm good. It'll cost you nothing. You'll get license to use the pics however you wish. I'll also pimp & promote the pics/gig/band all over the internet. The cons: urmm, none? Except that I'll be unsure what to expect from venues layout & lighting so you may get fewer photos than my paid shoots ... sorry! If you're interested leave a note in this thread, PM me on aberdeen-music, or contact me via my blog contact form. My flickr account has some of my recent gig photos: SpoiltCat Gig Photos - on Flickr It doesn't get any better value during the credit crunch than FREE
  22. sounds good to me, I'll make sure to have spare moneys handy as well as time to hang around enjoying (hopefully!) the music.
