The behringer XM 8500 has a frequency response similar to an sm58 and retails at around 15. Try www.allangordon.co.uk Excellent for the price.
Yeah thats the one. 15 now?? I was ripped off
-
Since it's only for 4-track work' date=' and most probably lo-fi fucked up electro-pop knowing you, you can 'borrow' one of the shitty mics that I never use.
I'm hurt you never asked me first.[/quote']
you big gaylord..........

Del Buy a Sennheiser evolution. They are like really cheap at the moment (under 50) or ask Jimi at CLS about the behringer SM58 copies. They are quite good. I bought some off him last year. I think they were about 40.

PS. where were you at Go North? I missed you not propping up the bar(s)!

Sort of like Frankl Sinatra had been raped by Kraftwerk. Absolutely awesome. Their album is due out on Royal Jelly records at the end of next month. You should be able to get it in Virgin and Fopp ( I believe). check out their website for more gigs- www.hoboken.co.uk

Unless you can get loads of Reaktor Mods / Instruments or you know how to build synths, stay clear of it. It is overcomplicated drivel for nerds (unless you love that sort of thing).
Reason 2.5 is a straight forward but powerful synth / sampler / sequencer package all in one and is rather good If I do say so myself. I have heard some really good stuff being made with it.

I'm looking forward to it Dave. it's as good as last years, even if it is a bit smaller.

I agree with that too

I remember playing in Drakes on the castlegate (1998 I think), with Arnica, and it was far too busy!!! People were queued onto the street trying to get in. Mind you Jim Gellatly took up a lot of room One of the best gigs I played. I think Martin had just left as manager and Jimi (from CLS)(who also played in the band), took over for a while.

agreed!Originally posted by soundian:I prefer to think of it simply as bandwidth. I know resonance is a term frequently used but it only really happens with high Q values.

You could probably hire out Studio One in CAVA (Glasgow) for betweeen 1k and 1.5k per day
-
just by 1210's fool. Everyone knows that
-
Paul, check out http://audioen.terratec.net/index.php?pgid=-1 for some nice PC soundcards.

I did the sound at that gig. It was awesome. Shame about the lack of punters. Whaddaya expect though when triptych charge stoopid money to get into all their gigs.

If rather naff, and the midi implementation on it is shit. Stay clear. If you really really want one, get the 505. The d-beam controller is cool and the midi is better on it, a better sequencer, plus more sounds etc. Still it's a naff piece of equipment. Only good use is for farting about on when drunk or stoned.

hog check out http://arc.badgerdotcom.co.uk (again probably!).

Don't forget Flash, that what you hear will have been mastered. I have heard a lot of the pre mastered stuff, and the post. I know one of the guys who masters a lot of the local music scene output, and he has terrible trouble with stuff from exile especially..............A lot of the bands have to take their tracks to him as they are unhappy with the final exile product.
Mill = good
-
I haven't heard much coming out from exile that would be considered by a mastering house or duplication plant as useable...........If anyone does record there, make sure that you get ALL the mastering done by someone else, as Mark cannot master to save himself (from the many tracks I have heard come out of his "studio"). Also don't let anyone tell what to do with your songs. Accepts constructive criticism, but not bullying. If you don't want a certyain thing done, dont let it happen. YOU are paying for it.
I'll leave it at that for now.......

shame it wont work over ADSL
-
Actualy if it's a stereo input on trs , it's unbalanced. But whos splitting hairs.
Ibis, thanks for the kind words on the website.
-
Damn, I forgot that one. Yeah your right.

SX2 is fab for collaboration with others, as each track can now have seperate notes stored about what has been done. Jsut like the design notes system in Dreamweaver (except you can't check in and out stuff on the web ). I plan on utilising this great new feature soon with my partner in Audio crime(s)!!
