  1. So you've been basing your opinion on the one time we've played a fudge gig at the Moorings - with a diffrerent singer, different drummer and different songs no less! Brilliant! Perhaps if you ever took a jaunt on our myspace site you'd hear we're a bit different now.... nevermind tho eh?? Ahhhh ok that explains it, I didn't know they all quit!! I'll keep that in mind for the future, thanks
  2. perhaps you misread.... i mean "shame" as in it's a shame that only one promoter does gigs at the Moorings - other venues have many promoters and having only one promoter is not the best option in my opinion. I wasn't saying it's a shame it's fudge, i was saying it's a shame that it's ONLY fudge .... jeez. I believe our point is proved by the fact that since you left, the hatred has moved away from us and remains aimed still at yourself. BACK TO THE POINT OF THIS THREAD: best live act, vote away.
  3. I've been wanting to play at the Moorings for some time now, apparently Fudge is the only person who puts on gigs there.... shame
  4. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that ... although to be fair i think it was YOU who was essentially nominated for worst band due to the fact that everyone hates you, ergo everyone hates the band you are in. Glad that's a far gone era.
  5. when you are building closed-back guitar cabs it isn't really important about the internal volume... If you play with "speaker cab design" software you will find that for an optimum cab volume it tells you to build one the size of an oil tanker or something lol... What you want to watch out for it building dimensions using even numbers... this MAY act to increase bad resonance and dampen frequencies so the only thing to remember is always use odd numbers, ideally use prime numbers and this will not be a problem! Odd numbers = no problem
  6. Why thanks!! I also enjoy the musings and melodies of Bal-Sagoth... hail orkish brother!
  7. A power metal band, Aberdeen based, been around a good few years now but have a significantly changed line-up these days, in the progress of recording/mixing our first release. www.myspace.com/ascensionbanduk if you really care...
  8. Forgive me if that one slipped my mind....Due to it being 2 years ago.
  9. boohoo... have you checked how many power metal bands are called Ascension? precisely 1 - us. How many are based out of Scotland? precisely 1. - us Funnily enough the majority of Ascension's are christian rubbish bands in the bible belt so I'm not too fussed. I'd rather that than some totally stupid name like Onion Terror which is quite ridiculous.
  10. That's fair enough, I wasn't aware of past histories- honestly wasn't looking to offend, just found it a bit, you know.... could be you haven't played fudge then? or DLS too? wow, haven't heard that before. And so well placed into the conversation, very subtle. Ascension have never played a fudge gig, let alone this year so we do not feature in the fudge awards and don't really have any intention of doing so as tbh it's the same stuff every single year because not many bands actually play fudge gigs. Literally, every year same bands. It's not terrible exciting to be honest.
  11. sounds good - you will definately be able to go down the hard-mod path - FAR better than external transformer...
  12. It is definately possible for some amps internal transformers to be rewired for accepting a UK voltage (something about wiring from parallel to series of vice-versa) but you will almost certainly want this done by a professional, and it's not possible on all amps. This actually might be a better option for you because you won't need to huff a 4kg transformer around with the amp - and it won't cost much more. I use a transformer because it sits perfectly in my rack without being a pest - but I reckon I'd be well worth finding a specialist who can check if you can reconfigure the amp's transformer....
  13. No offense, but does anyone think that questioning why your own band isn't up for an award is in bad taste? Plus it makes you look like a tool. Yes RL aren't nominated - probably because they aren't one of Aberdeen's best live acts - they certainly weren't when I saw them .... *edited for the anal...
  14. oh i should mention that the hrz difference between the 2 countries isn't an issue, some people may try to tell you that tube amps will have a weird buzzing sound because of the 50-60hrz difference but this will not be audible if it is at all present... so ignore that potential problem!.... here's some eBay transformers to get you started: 800w - The model I have Another 800w, lighter weight 300w - cheap and light but might not be enough overhead You must find the technical specifications of the amp to find the total wattage requirement... you might notice the Peavey poweramp is "50/50" which means stereo 50watts = 100w total.. This is NOT the wattage the amp requires and so a 100w transformer will be DANGEROUS to use with it, my amp is 500w so double check that you know the power requirements of the amp you are buying and that you have a transformer that puts out more than that, using a transformer with less capacity is simply dangerous to the equipment and you!
  15. Step down transformer from ebay (obvb down to 110V).... I have one for my Peavey Classic 50/50 Poweramp (US volatage) but because it's a 500w poweramp I needed a transformer of at least 500w, pref more - so my transformer is a hefty 850w capacity. So firstly, determine the maximum power consumption of the amp (in Watts) and then find on eBay a transformer of at least 100w more than this... My transformer is quite large, and weighs a massive 8Kg.... so you aren't looking at little plug adapters here! Price wise you are looking at 40-80 for the transformer and weight of 4-8kg. These are annoying to take with your amp - mine isn't because I have the poweramp rack mounted and the transformer shelf mounted on the rack below it - it's pretty heavy though!! Hope that helps....
  16. Did I read correctly that someone thought another planet was eclipsing the moon? As in a planet being BETWEEN the Earth and the moon? oh dear..... So for ignorant people: during a total lunar eclispe - the moon's orbit bring it into the Earth's umbral shadow (as in the Earth blocks all direct sunlight from reaching the moon. I say direct sunlight, because the Earth's atmosphere reFRACTS light from the sun towards the moon, but only light in the orange/red wavelength's is of a long enough wavelength for this refraction to occur (this is the reason the sky is blue, all the shorter wavelenghts are scattered in the atmosphere...). So during totality the moon appears an orange or blood red colour and is quite spectacular to watch! Now you know, the next one is 21st February next year i believe...
  17. BBC NEWS | World | Americas | US woman crashes into test centre To quote the Chuckle brothers: "Oh dear, oh dear...."
  18. I'll take that as an apology.... that's better.
  19. Yes, however I can at least be respectful and not personally attack someone, which you are unable to do as you have demonstrated in the past and on this thread. If that's the case then taking offence to the original creator of this thread is completely pointless and entirely against this comment... people don't like your style, here you have found quite a few people who don't - deal with it maturely next time. Don't bring it anywhere near these posts then. If you have no wish to go down this road of slagging then think before you spew vomit through your fingers and onto your keyboard in the form of the posts I have seen from you. If you like playing the stuff you do, then do it - yes people will not like you. That is life. Grow up and be on your way.
  20. Agreed about the old hotmangu recordings but I heard one song the other night on Northsound and it was sounding much better than previous stuff! It's a much better quality recording, certainly good enough for radio play....
  21. which one is Kerr?? no idea... I only have met one of you (the guitarist one) so I assumed he'd be the only one in a position to write such bullshit.... Eitherway, get a life whoever it was - people don't like your band! OMG!!111 That happens.
  22. wow and I thought this thread was dead.... how wrong I was. That's an interesting comment to make, and one I'd fully expect from someone as immature as yourself! Yes I was critising your band, but I wasn't personally attacking you, infact far from it. I don't like your music style, I don't like your songwriting or songs, I don't like your vocal stlye, I don't like your guitar tone and I don't like your guitar playing. But despite all this (and the fact that you slagged us off based on a vendetta against Theo, our drummer) I was happy to get along with you guys as I have literally nothing against you folks. Until now. You sir have shown yourself to be exxactly what my first impression expected you to be. That post was completely pathetic - and so are you. If you had listening to our music you might note that we aren't at all Dragonforce-like but I literally don't care. The fact that you were signling me out from the band to attack says it all - and don't even start to get into guitar ability because you are totaly shit mate. I know, I've had to listen to you guys at least twice, both equally terrible. Now shut up.
  23. I don't think there's any point in constuctive critism here because I just don't agree with the overall sound of their music as a whole. Basically if they completely changed everything about their whole band then I'd listen again....
  24. This is absoultely nothing personal against Abydsma as they are probably sound guys but I agree with thurisaz I'm afraid. I've heard them at least two times and to say "I wasn't impressed" would be being nice.... I'm not keen on their stuff and their choice of covers is particularly upsetting to the ears. No offence but I'm not an avid fan.
  25. no he wasn't! to be honest austin I though the same of the singer at that tunnels gig (if it's the one i'm thinking of when you played with us?) - give him a talking too because if he showed some effort it would have been much more enjoyable to watch!
