  1. see i always thought electronica was people like fischerspooner, felix da house cat lady tron etc (only know my mainstream) but obviously im wrong there for sure, cause i wouold respect the fact that stripey knows his stuff. i always thought people like kid koala, kid 606, boards of canada were IDM. but i guess theres sub genres and IDM is one under electronica... anyway i really shouldn't embarras myself any longer in the subject. i'd say geogaddi is my favourite boards canada LP out of the two i have. I found 'music has the right to children' was much more beat orientated still really good, but im much more into interesting synth and sample sounds hence why i enjoy geogaddi, i'd like to get some aphex twin don't really know much of the stuff im sure dave can sort me out on that score. and i'd agree with some squarepusher is quite nice, but also really interesting.
  2. ragu dave. you have fabulous avatar. question time was great last week with him. good old shadow minister of the arts...
  3. noooooo come on. what they might like i probably wont like silly girl... i think there will always be consistancy no matter the genre its just a thing.
  4. hmmm. dont agree saw them with the xcerts one time. dancy (as in you could dance to them) very good performance, but the music was actually pretty boring... cant imagine what they'd be like on cd... i guess they could have got better since the date of that gig i went to... i guess ska is not really my thing.
  5. hey whats the music scene like in dundee, venues and such like. do you have a range of genres there?
  6. Agreed about the music press. i can't be bothered with it most of the time either, its just handy for websites and a few other things while reviews just don't mean anything anymore apart from if someone gets 2/10 its surely going to be crap. jazz is great. i can't play it either, just think it up in my head. metal is good for that too... you could make a whole prog metal song sitting on the toilet. its great fun. ehm.. too much
  7. woh jesus the possiblities are past math. cheers i will look out for these things.
  8. cheers lepeep. god i hope dundee has something other than fucking bad metal going on. otherwise i could be on my own for some considerable time when i move there. although i guess im sure to meet some interesting people at uni. does dundee have any clubs like deen? i know we're pretty well off when it comes to choice here but im sure theres some sort of musical entertainment in every city.
  9. ah............... serious can still be fun i guess. yeh well that night he got head butted and got himself a huge gash across the eye. and he'd been drinking so he couldn't drive home, although he did anyway in the morning but he couldn't have got much sleep cause we all went to bed about 5 30 ish. and he slept on top of the bedding with his clothes on. hes a true surfer.
  10. ah yes the middle of your ass. have never been. but riki stayed over at my house once. sounds like a fun place.
  11. excellent, wouldn't mind hearing some live stuff of theres... never really looked past 'in the court of the crimson king' my uncle suggested the 'red' album, something like that anyway. but perhaps later, im going through a bit a of a brit pop/shoegaze phase at the moment.

aww i want to randomly meet some wierdo from this board. just to trade. how much fun.
  13. wow female vocalist, do like any shoe gaze stuff? theres some real nice vocals there... i wanted to try something with a female vocalist/musician... it would be great fun.
  14. yeh i know..... i was just making an example of a concept... (ehm) plus you dont have to be influenced by someone to sound like them, it could just end up that way. silly billy. anyway its all good regardless.
  15. erm... that would be quite hard huh. but great to see live.
  16. um yes it does sir. he may not do much to his beats. but im quite sure the keyboard settings along with other styles of producing are in there. do you wish to dule sir knight???
  17. yeh i just downloaded the tracks. very good. but its just like listening to boards of canada really, not much difference apart from the boards are better. i was going to get into some IDM myself. but the instruments and recording software are quite basic but enough to make a tune or two... but you certainly have talent my friend, i'd like to think you'd use it for greater good, and get yourself some originality (im not being as harsh as it sounds) maybe go back to the 80's within what you work with, a bit of old school. i duno... but keep going...
  18. hookers green are on the nomad A|M compilation you'll see it in one up somewhere. they kinda sound like 33.3 as well. but still really nice to listen to. i myself am going to start playing shows, i tink you can do a lot with guitar, a lot moer than you think... i discovered a couple of things myself which sounds interesting they may have already been found but i guess i've got my own angle on it. im really looking forward to people experiencing dave lovell. me and him are recording each other, sort of producing... his stuff is sounding so good, i think hes a really great musician. writes really nice songs, he sounds like bright eyes with a flash of sort red house painters style guitar, its really nice. another band to watch out for if they do get into the swing is sandcastles. i heard a snipit about 15-20 seconds and i loved it. duno if they are planning on having a show or not. i think aberdeen lacks pop. sort of alt indie pop. the shins then to another side PULP. twould be great to see something else apart from heavy guts.
  19. cheers for the hint, didn't realise the guys are still in the music business. what they sound like sir?
