  1. If you're looking at pre/power amp set up, I'd go for something that will give you a great tone on it's own merit rather than looking at amp modelling set ups. Find your own tone!
  2. I'm assuming for that price that it's not cased?
  3. That is gorgeous! Well worth the wait I bet?
  4. Top of my wishlist is definately an Akai Deep Impact. Quite simply the Holy Grail of bass synth pedals.
  5. There used to be a good article on gigging in the articles section - many experienced members of the forum contributed some really decent advice. It would be worth checking it out. I agree about trying to be as slick as possible when setting your gear up. And if you're sharing backline, take a photo on your phone of the settings you're using after you soundcheck. It's also worth timing your set at practises - it's a pet hate of mine when bands over-run their stagetimes. Be flexible with your's too - if a night is running late you'll score Brownie points by maybe cutting a song or two out to try and get the night back on track rather than playing your full set regardless.
  6. As far as I see it, "out of town" bands should be treated no different than more local acts, provided they act in a professional manner. Soundguys etc don't really give a stuff where you're from if you act like twits!! I've seen "local" soundguys absolutely tear a strip of a big touring bands tour manager as they were 2hrs late for soundcheck. Biggest tip I can give you is ALWAYS be on time.
  7. If a band do want to go a little bit further than releasing an EP themselves, then they need a bio and to reference influences. God forbid, they may even have to have some photographs. Personally, I like to read a bands influences and see what they look like while I'm streaming their songs. And I like to know who their "top friends" are, because they my actually be good. Ambition and effort are not mutually exclusive.
  8. It certainly did it's job though! I left Aberdeen five years ago and I can still remember their phone number!!!!
  9. It's gonna be an awesome gig! I can't wait:-)
  10. I can't see what advantage locking that trem out would give. They never go out of tune so that shouldn't be an issue.
  11. How does it sound through the Hartke cab?
  12. Not the thread I was expecting at all!!! The other thread quoted is an interesting read, and one day I'll get round to reading it all! Stephen Dedalus does make some interesting points indeed.....
  13. Give it up I did. Imposters there were many. Impossible to survive for Yoda it was.
  14. Andy -----> Monk Rocker Also masqueraded as Yoda for a short while
  15. Actually, now you come to mention it they both do! Lol
  16. The Leonard Jones Potential on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads We're an Inverness based funk band. The title of the thread would have been too long if I'd put The Leonard Jones Potential!!! Colin - lots of exciting things on the back of the session! I'll drop you an email as too much to tell here!!!
  17. Things I think are important...... 1. The acoustics in the room are good. Will ultimately make or break a rehearsal room. 2. The PA works and sounds clear. 3. There are enough channels on the PA to accommodate backing vocals/keys/horns etc 4. The gear is good quality. 5. Remember not all bands want high gain guitar amps 6. Don't scrimp on the quality of the bass amp 7. A nice sofa 8. Guitar stands - I wish every practise room had a few 9. Somewhere to make a cuppa:-)
  18. Brilliant amp that. No idea what it's worth, but a great amp none the less:-)
  19. Personally, even if you don't use it that much I'd leave the trem that's on it in place. You might change your mind. In my opinion a Bigsby on an S series Ibanez would look ridiculous and an S series with a strat style trem has already been done - Ibanez SA series!
