you have to have the fire certificate...if not most professional venues wont let you use it.

go to this! glasgow show last night was great.

just tried Mr Li's on crown terrace...im afraid it was bloody awful!

first they brought me a meat soup (when i asked for a veggie one) then they brought me some gelatinous gloop...it tasted of stale oil. yuck.

the rest of it was either bland, tough meat or not as described on the menu. and it cost 20 per head with no booze.

not recommended by me anyway...maybe i was just unlucky cos the other guy said it was good.

crooked still are amazing live...

Can you tell me why you told bands not to bring crews? I am a freelance sound engineer and was meant to be coming up with Call To Mind on the Friday but due to your regulations i was put out of work...

Obviously i wasn't very happy about this.

Sam...its absolutely not up to the festival if the band brings an engineer or not...its the bands decision and the crew at the festival should deal with it...you should have gone anyway!

Im becoming quite a fan of the MD421. You ever used a Rode NT2? Pretty good as well, especially for the money.

aye nt2 is ok...id always go for a 2nd hand 421 though. it is THE mic for gtr cab, bass cab, toms, brass as mentioned. its also good for kick drum and vocals / speech too. all of this in the studio or live.

i need to get myself a couple!

for brass you cant go wrong with a sennheiser MD421 or an electrovoice RE-20

Head is 3 yrs old...not used much either. Comes with proper orange footswitch (30 new)and a plush cover that cost me 50 bucks.

Cab is missing the marshall logo but in good nick apart from that. Comes with vinyl cover

Its in glasgow but im up in aberdeen for a gig at the lemon tree in a couple of weeks (21st) so could meet folk there.

sonhenry do you have a 4x12? might not be what you are looking for but i have a marshall 1960B id be up for exchanging. i need something smaller!

look into the aer series of acoustic amps. they arent cheap but are very light and give the best sound for acoustic instruments i have heard. and the di in them is great too (and pre/post eq switchable.)

you could also get a 3 way line selector pedal so you can plug them all in and just switch instrument with your foot.

you then have the option of micing the amp or using the di and working out how to change the eq for the different instruments. or you could even get a good eq pedal for the violin (probably the most problematic one?) and at least you are using the amp for your main monitor so when you change the engineer just has to worry about eq for the house and not your wedge.

glasgow chips just cant compete with aberdeen ones...and dave is right stonehaven chips are even better.

oh god, really? that's the worst idea ever! that's even worse than dj's playing a bands record when they know they're in the club.

i was doing sound for a band the other week and the dj played their single as they came off stage. despite the fact they had played the single less than 10 mins earlier. cringe!

you should go watch Galchen in the solus tent on the friday...well worth a look.

i got 2 pairs for 75pounds (including one with sunglass tint) from specsavers.

not the most personal service but dont think you really get that cheap elsewhere
