  1. Who's stupid idea was this wonderful bit of gig planning? Buck 65 King Tuts 17/6/05 7.50 Basement Jaxx Barrowland 17/6/05 17.50 Weezer Carling Academy 17/6/05 23.50 All on the same night! NOOOOOOOO! I want to go to ALL of them I have weezer tickets, but I want to see Buck 65 again so badly. What is a girl to do?!
  2. I am working with a furniture re-use charity in Glasgow, and am trying to redesign their logo, but i'm the least creative person ever. Does anyone out there in Aberdeen have 20 mins to spare and maybe draw up an idea? I would be eternally grateful. They are called 'Second Opportunities' and their current logo is a diamond with their name in it. Rubbish!
  3. My personal driving faves are Jimmy Eat World, 2 Many DJ's and the Offspring. Currently in my CD player however are Alkaline Trio, JEW x3, Dashboard Confessional, NIN, Biffy Clyro and Capdown. I have the same problem as Craig. I start singing and rocking out and my speed goes -------------->
  4. Perhaps the drop in support is because it's now 3 1/2 months since the disaster, and peoples attention has moved on? Not having a go - I think it's great that you're all getting of your arses and doing something, but maybe some speedier organisation would have helped.

  6. Couldn't have summed it up better. I thought J.E.W. were back on fantastic form. It made my month when they played no sensitivity.
  7. I loved the first Instruction EP and they were ace supporting Hundred Reasons at the Garage. At least I think it was Hundred Reasons. But A are total pants now. Boo.
  8. March 31st at Glasgow Soundhaus wih 'Alfonso'
  9. Me too! Neil what is it with this stupid minimum message length?!
  10. Grohl! And Dave Gorman - what a legend.
  11. PANTS! Why is there now a limit to how short your message can be?

  16. Last night in Glasgow was terriffic. It was crazy the amount of people in the Carling Academy. I thought HIFH were pretty dull though. Does it bother anyone else when bands say "thanks, you guys are great, this is great...etc.etc." but look like they're totally miserable? Biffy last night just made me think about it.
  17. Did anyone else hear them on Zane Lowe last night? They did a crazy cover of 'Take me Out' which was fab. I'm going to the Glasgow gig tonight. Can't wait.
  18. How come the 44's arn't defending their best international title?
  19. Sorry, but is that maybe not a one line statement summing up why Drakes is now shut? Surely running a business is about providing what the customers want, not what you like? (I'm not saying it can never be both.)
  20. Okay, i'm going to look at this from a purely commercial point of view. Surely the reason Drakes closed is because there are other alternatives in Aberdeen which people simply like going to more, i.e. the Bassment, the Moorings, Kef, the 101 other pubs and bars that have opened in Aberdeen in the past 2 years. I know that the place has a great history and was run by seriously great people, that's not in question. If any business closes it's because they're not offering what their potential customers want. It's no good ranting on here about how the 'scene' and the 'kids' should change to keep the venues alive. That's not how a business works. You need to change your business to suit what the customers now want. And if that's not listening to shit local bands then so be it. I really liked Drakes, so i'm not having a go - just a different perspective. As for the idea of supporting any band just because they're from Aberdeen - why? You like what you like because of what it sounds like, not where it's from. I admire the bands from Aberdeen who give their band a serious go, Psycho-a-go-go for example, but it doesn't mean I want to go to their gigs/buy their cd's etc.
