Confession - After living off Paisley Road for three years I'm no longer a Rangers fan. You were all right, they're a bunch of total cunts.

I know one Rangers fan who takes it to ridiculous extremes. He's got lists of Rangers pubs all over the country, he goes on holiday so he can sit in Rangers pubs, he only goes on holiday with other Rangers fans, and he repeats every single conspiracy theory going as well.

I made the mistake of going into one Rangers pub in Spain last year because they were showing a game I wanted to watch. Half an hour of listening to their shite was more than enough.

A friend of mine was a WWE writer for years and got let go last year along with a ton of others. He didn't have many good things to say about the organization - basically indicating that it's gonna be this kind of shit for many years to come

It's a hard as fuck job as well isn't it? I read an interview with a former writer and it seemed to be nothing but non-stop work.

  3. It's a pity that the usual boxing politics are getting in the way of Joshua-Wilder. It's the fight everyone wants to see, it will do absolutely huge business at Wembley, and surely they could agree that Wilder will get a rematch on American soil if Joshua beats him here?

  4. I've made it into the semi finals of the Challenge Cup, so clearly I'm not doing too badly. No chance of anything but 7th or 8th place in the league, but I've got several decent young players all locked up on 2-3 year contracts. If only a bigger team would come along and offer me half a million for one...

  5. Calgary Flames all the way. 22 years of suffering, heartache and general despair and counting... I can see the same story this season as last season - a team tipped to do well just won't deliver.  As talented as the team is, we don't have a top goalie, and without one, there's no road to the conference finals IMO.

He's probably doing just fine in his day job without the hassle of playing under you as his manager.

I hate this bloody game. I'm sitting in 8th place in League 1, and there's nothing I can do to improve on that. If I take any risks, I'm going to risk relegation. If I don't take any risks, I'm able to collect points through draws and the occasional win. End result is non-stop shit football that no-one in their right mind wants to watch.

The Football League wouldn't but I'd bet the Premier League wouldn't scoff at bringing both the old firm down, if there was a way to do it, for the £££.

    I hope not though.

There's no reason why they couldn't, there's already Welsh teams playing in England and an English team playing in Scotland. The only question would be on how they could join, though starting from the bottom of League 2 is hardly a new experience for Rangers. They could easily just allow the Premier League to go to 22 teams for one season though, and relegate more teams than usual for that one year.

It's about time that we had proper cross border leagues.

They really are the worst fans in existence.

I have no idea what it is about them, but they're just as bad abroad as well. I met one in Spain in a random Scottish pub, and the prick was going on non-stop about how Rangers have been hard done by and how they were cheated by everyone blah blah blah. Unsurprisingly, he didn't speak a word of Spanish and he knew fuck all about football in general, it was just Rangers this Rangers that.

Scottish football would be all the better for it if Rangers were allowed to fuck off and join the English leagues.

  9. What's odd about FM17 to me is the way that players will sit as free agents for months rather than sign for less money with me with the promise of first team football. I had one twat on trial, couldn't afford him, he wouldn't accept a contract full of bonuses, and 6 months later - he's still a free agent. He would probably have made more money with the bonuses than through a guaranteed weekly wage as well.

He would have played every game, but clearly he's too good for playing on a torn up Meadowbank pitch in the middle of winter and so he prefers to rot away not playing for anyone.

My chums and I always used to steal one of the flags from The Broch golf course and set it on fire at beach parties. Every week it was replaced, every weekend it was burned.

We never burnt anything, but anything we could find was chucked in the pond at Westhill golf course without fail on a Friday night, ready for the oil golf wankers on a Saturday morning. We'd also phone them up and ask if there were any tournaments going on that weekend, just to make sure that as much stuff as possible got into the pond the night before.

I remember hauling a bench across the course just to throw that in as well. It all started when one golf prick had a go at us for crossing the golf course because it saved a huge walk around, so wrecking his precious golf course became a ritual.

  11. Fuck Football Manager.

I've just started playing FM 2017 again and in my first season with Edinburgh City, I've just got them promoted through beating Stenhousemuir 6-5 in the playoffs after realising that away goals don't count double in the SPFL playoffs for some reason. I chucked the kitchen sink at them after losing the first leg 4-3 away from home, went up 2-0 at home, conceded straight away and then spent the next 70 minutes trying not to concede again while lobbing balls into their box and hoping to kill the game dead. Realised after 90 minutes that away goals didn't count double, and had to spend 30 minutes with a completely knackered team. Managed to win with the last kick of the ball too.

That was after a ridiculous season when all the teams below me in the league kept dropping points so I managed to finish an easy 2nd in the league.

I'm now addicted again and can't put it down. Bloody game. The chairman is a twat though, he 'offered' me a new contract for 2 years with a reduced salary even though I've just got the team promoted! Does he think I'm stupid?

As someone who knows the Jamesy and Ben of 2003-08 era as well as/better than anybody, I can categorically state that most people who only had occasional run ins with them don't know the full extent of their personality traits and attributes. Especially when anything to do with this site is concerned.

This is why phrases that state absolutes such as  "he was the worst example of taking the internet too seriously" and "Ben on the other hand never got involved in that stuff offline" are beyond wildly inaccurate, and I'm not going to go any further than that. We're all flawed humans - and some people just happen to be better at concealing their flaws than others.

Don't get me wrong - I fully appreciate that how we perceive others almost entirely comes down to our personal experience with them but you literally stated yourself you didn't know the guy. So with that in mind, I can tell you that in regards to 'kicking your head in' Jamesy often was more-talk-than-walk and would have never actually done that... but if my memory serves me correctly, half the people on this site threatened to do similar at some point.

I agree with you, but imagine how it looked to see Jamesy berating and threatening someone who had seemingly done nothing and who didn't even know who Jamesy was? I had no dog in the fight, but it was unsettling to see how Jamesy was kicking off on someone who was an obvious victim of mistaken identity. Then when you get told through friends about how Jamesy's going to jump me if he sees me - it just added to my perception of him taking the internet way too seriously. Like you and Phil say, he wouldn't have done it - but it was surreal to be told this by different people, as it was obvious that he was at least telling people about it. In hindsight, it would have made more sense to go see him and sort it out face to face, but then it all went back to seeing him rage outside Moshulu.

I wouldn't have blamed Ben for kicking off for some of the things people said about him, but I always had a lot of respect for him for not doing so. He might have been different among other people, but he was always decent around me, and I could never understand why a certain group of people were always insulting him behind his back. His online persona was one thing, but I always put that down to him being bored and enjoying a good wind-up.

Hahaha, you're right, half the site did threaten something like that, but only two people seemingly took it seriously enough to pass threats on through other people.

I wonder if anyone did actually physically fight over what was posted on here?

By 2005 Jamesy was far more interested with his work at Moshulu putting on gigs (he entirely stopped playing guitar in that Summer) and we realised we weren’t going to get any better if this continued, so parted ways. He often wound people up (both inside and outside the band!) but I believe his heart was always in the right place, and he had ambitions far beyond what anyone else in the Aberdeen music scene had. Or at least he tried harder to make them come to fruition.

Thinking back, Jamesy didn't do himself or MMW any favours at times. I remember him getting in someone's face outside Moshulu and threatening to give them a hiding, all because of some scene politics. The wise thing to do would have been to sit down with the guy over a beer, but instead he lost the plot and went way over the line. I didn't know the guy, but Jamesy made an absolute arse out of himself in front of a crowd of people. It wasn't the only time he responded with aggression as well - I remember being told by several different people that he was going to kick my head in over what I'd posted on here and that I should watch my back. I don't think he would have, but his temper really did get the better of him at times. I don't doubt his work ethic, but he was the worst example of taking the internet too seriously.

Ben on the other hand never got involved in that stuff offline - I remember you'd normally find Ben in Moshulu just quietly drinking, and like you said, he never acted like a prima donna in public. He was also a good guy to a lot of young bands, but he never boasted about it on here or sang his own praises. I always had a lot of respect for him for that, because a lot of scene people were just nasty and spiteful towards young bands.

It's matchmaking. So if you're getting put in matches with people who are bad, it's cos you are bad too.

    Hahahaha, that explains everything!

Fortnite is just weird, there's no reason whatsoever to pay for anything, yet people spending huge amounts of cash on it. I don't get it.

  15. I've been playing Fortnite: Battle Royale for something to drop quickly in and out of, and it's astonishing how bad the players are. I can finish in the top 10 every time without any effort at all, and usually in the top 5. I'm not even any good at these games, but the other players are just bad.

The Rock vs Mankind I Quit match is still brutal. It was quite uncomfortable to watch, even now.

I watched it a few nights ago, and fucking hell, I could barely watch after the first couple of chairshots. I remember loving it at the time, but now? It just made me shudder, knowing how much damage was being done with each one.
