    Smoking Ban

Well, most people will probably not bother going outside to smoke. They can always hire another bouncer to deal with any new threats and if someone gets a hiding because of smoking trouble they won't want to smoke much more will they?

    Smoking Ban

Smoking sucks (apart from cigars, which look cool), I hope they ban it in public places soon enough, it's not fair that people who have to work in pubs and clubs should be burdened with cancer and other ill effects of smoking. Although what craig said is true, the government get minted from tobacco taxes every year so they probably want people to keep smoking.
  3. Yeah - if you're into stage antics (jumping, leaping, spinning etc) then it might be a worthwile investement so that you don't inadvertently stand on your cable and either ruin the cable or the jack socket on your guitar. Otherwise I don't know, having never owned such a device.
  4. It is cool to play solos! It is I tells ya!
  5. Yeah, it's all down to preference I suppose. I've tried playing bass and I don't like it as much as I like to play guitar.
  6. Now... I've heard that open tuning is the way to go if you want to play slide, and I was thinking of playing around with it and maybe incorporating it into my technique if I think it sounds good, the only problem is I don't really know what open tuning is. Anyone care to tell me?
  7. 5 pence coins? Hmmm, isn't that a bit fiddly? I've never tried it - how do you play chords and stuff with that? It's the smallest coin, I'm quite curious as to how that one would work. I'll give it a go myself and post back with results.
  8. Yeah, I agree - when you do pull off that lick or solo that is fairly difficult you're like "yeah, I'm cool" but it's good to play stuff that isn't hard so that a) it's a lot easier not to fuck it up and b) it's sometimes more fun to play because you don't have to concentrate like a mofo and so you can take the time to do other things, like make faces at the drummer.
  9. I thought ClearTone kicked ass, Bench and Apraxia were good too, I agree with some of what BenQuik said about Apraxia - they just ain't my type of music but I enjoyed what they did - loving the funky bass/guitar, it just isn't really my choice of listening. Bench... yeah, they were good and that guy Tim sure can sing, I just don't like that bow - I was standing there thinking "dude, that can't be good for your strings" I dunno. I thought it sounded slightly like a mess for a little bit but ah well, it was good on the whole. Starfall, I didn't stick around long enough to catch their whole set, I only got a little glimpse of what they do and uhhh, well, I don't really know what to say - I wouldn't listen to them intentionally but if they were there I wouldn't go out of my way to leave. But CT were highly great! I don't think they were void of emotion at all, I mean - I was wowed by the way they fit together as a band - I thought they were the best act there. But that's just my (highly accurate and correct ) opinion. And before anyone starts attacking me for saying my opinion is great I was being funny.
  10. Aye, go for a DiMarzio Super Distortion, they rawk good and proper I tells ya!
  11. Nah, I genuinely like their songs. they're catchy, have some good riffs in there and it's just some general pop-punk-esque fun. I don't care if anyone says it's pathetic or that I like a band that doesn't write their own music - it's just some music, can't be any harm in it. I agree with Aileens last statement there - "In my opinion, if you like a song, you like it - who gives a shit how/when/where or by who it was produced!!!"
  12. I use heavy picks. Venom, some clear red Jim Dunlops and a couple of old e.b.e plectrums. I hate thin plectrums, I hate that stupid flapping noise they make. I find it really off putting - plus I like to hit my strings hard sometimes And no, I don't break strings excessively.
  13. Yeah, I agree too - sometimes people sneer at those who abstain from joining in fretboard wankery, but I guess that's just how some people are. Haha, fuck them! I don't mind people playing their technically demanding solos and stuff and they look quite impressive, I just don't like the people who throw it in your face and make you want to hurl your guitar at their cranium before slamming it onto their fingers and then stabbing them in the crotch with a screwdriver.
  14. Yeah, I know what you mean.
  15. eh... bugger off - of course I can play that, I'm just too tired right now is all...
  16. Blink 182 are good! I know a couple of their riffs and they kick ass, so much fun to play
  17. I don't really learn songs, I just play along to cds in my room or jam with friends.
  18. What are you talking about? McFly are now probably so rich that they can HIRE someone to clean Busted's shoes!!
  19. McFly - girl with 5 colours in her hair I think, I like that song - it's catchy!
  20. What';s a whammy pedal do? I've heard of them in TG (one was required to play some kinda rage aghainst the machione song) My eyes hurt. Bugger this screen - I neecd an LCD screen/monitor. Crappy crt hurting my eyes
  21. Yeah, me too - I've been practicing a lot, just so I can pull out a killer lick and kick someones ass with it. Tres amusant, tres amusant. I also recroded some 12 bar blues on my mp3 and put that through some teravel speakers and practice with myself to get even better. I'm workin on speed just npw though, I got an excercsie/lick type thiong off the net and I've been playing that every now and again, I sdtill can't get it to go super fast, or even that fast at all without screwing up - it's my right arm though, I can't alternate pick without hitting other sterings. Is it all that essential? Bugger if I know. Also I found out how to make my guitar scream and squeal - it'as all in how you hold the pick I telks ya!
  22. I do believe I shall be in attendance at this gig
