Interesting Music are honoured to be hosting another very special show & one of only 6in the UK with:- FB Event here https://www.facebook.com/MeltYourselfDown#!/events/550130538344133/ Mount Eerie & Band The Kitchen Cynics ... The Tunnels 1 Wed 22nd May 13 Doors 8pm Advance tickets available here http://www.wegottickets.com/event/208147 Door Tax £9 Mount Eerie & Band (K Records/Tomlab) Ever since Phil Elverum of The Microphones launched his career with his now legendary release The Glow Pt 2 in 2001 people around the globe have been purring at the fantastic, often breath-taking out-put ever since. Change of name to Mount Eerie seemed to inspire further experimentation culminating in his two wonderful realeases in 2012 both diverse but both acknowleged as a work of supreme quality ranging from traditions of the land & his surrounding environment right through to black metal reference points. Those of us honoured to be present when Phil played a solo set in Dr Drakes about 8years ago know how special this will be. This show with have a four piece touring band comprising of associates from his early Microphones days onward. http://www.pwelverumandsun.com/ http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/16657-clear-moon/ http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/16988-ocean-roar/ http://drownedinsound.com/releases/17379/reviews/4145833 (go see the message boards below the drownedinsound review...WOW just wow) The Kitchen Cynics Only one person in NE Scotland could possibly open this show, an artist who keeps creating music to inspire those lucky enough to hear it. Currently in "superb creative form" and gathering even more music locals to hear him & increasing attention further afield with this & his other music projects, IMP are delighted to have KC opening this special show http://www.myspace.com/kitchencynics http://kitchencynics.bandcamp.com/
  9. IMP are extremely excited to announce the return of three artists we have worked with before and are all absolutely top notch. Conquering Animal Sound Panda Su iliop Thurs 4th April The Tunnels 1 Doors 7.45pm Advance tickets £6.50plus booking fee from this link http://www.wegottickets.com/event/207350 Cash on the Door £8FB Event here: https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/472771892786939/ Conquering Animal Sound (Chemikal Underground) Conquering Animal Sound were brought to our attention through their astonishing debut album ‘Kammerspiel’. released on Leeds-based label Gizah records, it’s a spectral, eleven-track wonder of creative splendour Seeing their Aberdeen debut not long after the release the band knocked us sideways, & returned in November 2011 & played their first IMP event during SOUND Festival. 2012 brought CAS the rich reward they deserved by making to the final 10 onto the shortlist for the first Scottish SAY awards (Scottish equivalent to the Mercury Music Prize, with similar 1st prize money). Comprising Anneke Kampman and James Scott both residents of Glasgow, CAS’ brand of pop (and it is pop, make no mistake) is rendered through a kaleidoscope of clicks, tape hiss, synths and a myriad of micro-electronica to produce something that’s bewitching and entirely immersive. Anneke’s voice is the most flexible and affecting instrument of all though: harmonised and restless, her layered vocals wax, wane and shipshift in such gloriously inventive waves that for it all to form part of a debut seems almost rude. Their brand new long play “On Floating Bodies”, is due out late March & IMP are really delighted to welcome them back early in the cycle of touring this eagerly anticipated new release. ttps://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Conquering-Animal-Sound/205594179060?fref=ts https://twitter.com/yourfriendscas Panda Su IMP are also delighted to welcome back Panda Su. Always a wonderful live artist, she captures & enchants her audience with her wonderful words & story telling. Since her last visit she has had some great successes most notably her Alphabet Song was used in USA No 1 Box Office horror film & has opened up opportunities. She has also completed a great video of the same song in a Dundee Laundrette which is simultaneously serious & funny at the same time. Also to celebrate the Edinburgh Pandas arriving she was invited to entertain them with some songs https://www.facebook.com/pandasumusic https://twitter.com/pandasu iliop Is a mysterious Edinburgh based electronic music artist....iliop's music is evocative and weird, and conjours abstract images like those of motorways where the cars are nought but streams of light; Virtually nothing is online about him apart from this brief extract of a live performance "it’s not long before you’re lost in the siren-song of the ghostly audio he’s beaming out into the room. iliop never stops moving – letting up the next loop to come in at the right moment or fiddling with the wires laid around his feet; the detritus of sound-checks – guitar cables, pint glasses and instrument cases. It’s a crowded stage for one man, but he manages to take the air vibrate with some sort of cosmic, digital energy". Keep in the IMP loop http://www.twitter.com/IMP_aberdeen join the mailing list interestingmusic@hotmail.co.uk

  11. reviews just in....This is TONIGHT "It is at once doggedly old-fashioned and thrillingly modern, organic and post industrial, a throwback to the days when pop music could transport th...e listener to another world." 5 STARS *****, Scotland On Sunday "Many artists develop signature sounds; rarer is the musician who accrues several. Johnny Lynch is one of the few to do so successfully" ALBUM OF THE MONTH, The Skinny "The second Pictish Trail album has a multiple personality, skitting from electronics to anguished drum-machined fuzzy rock to Velvet Undergroundy feedback, and finally to gentler moments that, most of all, suggest the flowering of a Scottish Bon Iver... a strange, compelling, existential beauty" The Guardian "Vol. 2 is a warm, inviting album. Being recorded in near-isolation has suffused it with that all-in-this-together caravan holiday feel, huddled around a glowing electric radiator, huddling together for warmth" 8.5 out of 10, The 405 "this spirited and life-affirming album succeeds in converting some of the sadder aspects of life into music graced with humour and, indeed, joy." BBC Review "a glorious hotchpotch of screwball sounds, whizzes, bangs and bonkers instrumental breaks" Drowned In Sound "as much fun to listen to as you imagine Lynch had making it" The Herald "another mess of DIY wonderment, recorded in a caravan on his adopted home of Eigg for that home-cooked taste you get from a blend of drum machines, analogue keyboards, accordion and, who knows, maybe old coathangers and sticky back plastic. Lynch’s sweet, sorrowful voice binds it all together with a mix of tenderness and vulnerability" FOUR STARS, The Scotsman "The album is a day-glo pop carousel. There’s hints of the Beta Band, Guided By Voices, even the Associates throughout the album but Johnny Lynch’s vision is singular." This Is Fake DIY "his most cohesive, focussed work yet" Clash
  12. Pictish Trail on LIVE on Vic Galloway TONIGHT plus here's a great (5star) review from The Scotsman of the new LP due out next week http://www.scotsman.com/lifestyle/music/news-and-features/album-reviews-the-pictish-trail-sheila-hall-and-john-shirreffs-yo-la-tengo-1-2734461

  15. Euros was wonderful last night & with his band played a lot of solo favourites & even a seminal Gorky's track, however the whole show was stolen by an amazing 15min analogue moog physch jam which made the whole place erupt into a wednesday night dance floor mash up for the very healthy turn out & lots of very happy people....

The new album, ‘Light of the North’, released on June 11th, is already attracting rave reviews from blogs and press worldwide. That Corrie can combine these elements successfully is impressive; that he can do it with style, and while creating insanely memorable songs, is even more so" ***** The Line of Best Fit: "Miaoux Miaoux caters in stunning sonic collages, delicately pieced together from pacey bit beats, chopped electronics, pealing synths, ringing acoustic guitars and his clear pristine vocal that carries an array of sweet pop melodies across the top" The List: "A perfect example of how good pop music can be if it’s driven by a restless intelligence." http://www.miaouxmiaoux.com/ http://www.chemikal.co.uk/ CARSON WELLS are a trio of noisy young men producing something rather powerful, and an exciting new album just coming out to prove it. http://www.facebook.com/#!/wearecarsonwells http://carsonwells.bandcamp.com/ AUTUMN HANG is the new name for former Peel faves The Bomb Circle. 19. Come and be dazzled this Saturday T1 "Ripping off your ears with just four strings and a drum kit, Hysterical Injury kick-start 2012 with their debut album 'Dead Wolf Situation', a collection of 12 tracks that fuse accelerated noise rock with a voice as sweet as sugar" - 4/5 - Artrocker "12 tracks of palpable urgency, of pop as pure as it is brutal - and of clear-eyed lyrical righteousness. 20. http://www.limbolive.co.uk/reviews/miaoux-miaoux-homework-indianredlopez-2/?nggpage=2 a wee review when headlining a show with local heros IRL Miaoux Miaoux Showing why his recent signing to Chemikal Underground was a good idea, Miaoux Miaoux gets folk moving straight away. Fragile vocals are underpinned by serious, trouser-vibrating synth. It is pretty much impossible to stand still. He does not stand still either – constantly moving between guitar, vocals and all manner of synths. He is clearly determined to neither curtail musical ambition nor simply sing over a backing track – both of these facts are to be applauded. The real strength is Julian’s ability to transcend effortlessly from churning grooves to moments of tenderness and back again. Far from being a one-speed set, it is layered with dynamics. A compelling performance from an act who continues to grow in stature, and rightly so.
