I like The Smith right now, it shows my mood with their help.

Phew, I saw a brand new user posting a comment about some dodgy essay-writing site on another thread and assumed it must be a bot.

I needn't have worried; it's clear from this comment (and the 5 other ones posted in the last hour) that you are 100% legitimate, human user who has lots to contribute to this community.

To further this discussion: Which Smith shows your mood the best would you say?  Gotta be Andy Rourke from me... or if we're talking more generally it'd have to be Anna Nicole Smith.

I could never make up my mind if Arrested Development or Curb was the best comedy ever written.

Give it 5 minutes and I'm sure E.C. will be here to tell you what to think

A related story that is interesting (to me at least) is of Brad Fiedel was composing the Terminator theme... He wrote the melody by improvising over a percussion loop he'd recorded, but hadn't realised that he had stopped the end of the sequence a bit early. As a result, the bars are an awkward 13/16 time signature. But it's one of the best themes ever, so happy accidents and all that.

They "fixed" this in T2 and ruined it.

    What did you listen to?

I put on a bit of Clandestine and Wolverine Blues. WB and 'To Ride, Shoot Straight and Speak The Truth' were always my favourite albums by them - but coincidentally I listened to TRSSASTT a couple of weeks ago.

It was Morning Star for me.

I guess this was around the time when I saw them play together but I always associate Morning Star with 'God Hates Us All' era Slayer.  I almost think of WB, Clandestine etc as being a different band cos the style/production is pretty different.

  5. Wow, I've never heard of them but there are some AMAZING quotes on their Wiki page... for example:

"This 'Albucrazy'-based band has done for MySpace emo what some think Soulja Boy did for hip-hop: turn their career into a kind of macro-performance art that exists so far beyond the tropes of irony and sincerity that to ask 'are they kidding?' is like trying to peel an onion to get to a perceived central core that, in the end, does not exist and renders all attempts to reassemble the pieces futile."

"even if I caught Prince Harry and Gary Glitter adorned in Nazi regalia defecating through my grandmother’s letterbox I would still consider making them listen to this album too severe a punishment."

Just look at the state of them:

I've been playing Fortnite: Battle Royale for something to drop quickly in and out of, and it's astonishing how bad the players are. I can finish in the top 10 every time without any effort at all, and usually in the top 5. I'm not even any good at these games, but the other players are just bad.

If my household is typical, the average age of players is about 8 yrs old.  My 11 yr old regularly wins matches and little sibling (5) can mash through unscathed for long enough to come in the top 20.  From what I've seen you can just stay out of trouble and let the other players take themselves out with fall-damage or by spamming a grenade-launcher in all directions.

    I don't get it.

  7. I'm tempted to trade everything in for the Helix too.  Let us know how you get on with it as I've not heard it in person (just videos) so I'd be keen to know how it deals with a rehearsal/small gig situation.  Are you planning on running it direct into a PA or something like the power-amp of a combo?

Does anybody use one of the more recent incarnations of the Nintendo DS (2DS, 3DS etc) as an emulator for old 16bit console games.

If yes, tell me all about it and how easy it is to do.

We still use our old DSi to play emulators and when I looked into the newer versions it seemed like it might be a bit of a ball-ache.

That was a while ago though so I guess people have worked out an easier method by now. Look for homebrew cards that use micro SD and I'm sure there'll be guides etc.  I don't want to post any links in case it's deemed inappropriate.

Fourthly, you might think I'm a bellend, that's ok, I can be at peace with that. I'm also not 40, and what has age got to do with it. You're still on here acting the billy big bollocks, and you're of a similar age to me, shouldn't you know better.

I know you're not 40... we're a similar age.  To quote someone earlier in the tread thread "that's the joke".  I thought the smilie might have made it clear that I was joking but you're still persisting with the "Billy big bollocks" patter so I'll assume it hit a nerve.

Probably not, but it's definitely a product of how you conducted yourself on here initially. Doesn't make it right either way I guess but in this case we're talking about people picking you up on spelling which, in the grand scheme of things, is not worth Mac getting sand in his vagina over.

Just listen to yourself. What the fuck posseses you to jump into a thread you care nothing about just to mock someone's spelling? Didn't mean to come across as having a sandy vagina(?) but I'm kinda fed up of people being made to feel like they can't post anything anywhere in fear of the fucking grammar police mocking their efforts. Should they just not bother in case it offends you?

And why?  Just because he might have been a bit of a dick 5 years ago when he first joined?  For Christ's sake, I think he was about 15... You must be kicking on 40 now, Phil and you've always been a bellend ;)

  11. At best you guys have just come in and shit-posted all over his thread and turned it into a "hilarious", grammar-nazi circle-jerk.  Way to go.

This is the "general discussion" board? Is he not well within the remit of that when he starts a thread about something that genuinely interests him?  So yeah "woo motorbikes", right?

Whatever.  I mean it's just bantz innit, yeah? Ladsladslads!!

  12. Wait... you're all (Gypsum excluded) trying to make yourselves feel cool as fuck by straight-up bullying this guy, right?

From what I can see you've come into a thread he started, about a topic he is interested in, with fuck all to contribute but with the sole intention of picking on him.  Sort it out, its fucking embarrassing.

Netflix. Hear me out... I used to go out and buy 4 or 5 dvds at a time from HMV. All stuff I really wanted to watch and beyond films being out of print or not distributed in the country, there was no restrictions on what I could buy. Classics, indie films and everything in between -  my film-watching was very varied and felt worthwhile. I'd constantly be watching films i'd been meaning to see. Smash-cut to nowadays, I rarely 'buy' anything, digitally or otherwise and I rely on Netflix and Amazon video for my film-watching.

Let's face it, Netflix's back catalog, particularly in the fairly-maor release category, is utter horseshit. We're being spoonfed 'recommendations' that look like the digital equivalent of a bargain bin. I use canistreamit.com to check availability of all the films i have on my imdb 'to watch' list (which I add films to whenever something interesting comes up in conversation or whatever) and i'd say there's a 1 in 10 hit rate on films being available.

We're being told that Netflix is THE shit - and there's no denying that for TV and their original content, they're doing some awesome things - but for films, it's a load of pap. I would pay twice, maybe three or four times the price if i knew all the films i wanted to watch were on there and I wouldn't have to look at the same Jennifer Aniston rom com covers every time i look for suggestions of what to watch next.

Am I missing something?  Can't you still just buy the DVDs you want?  Netflix is costing you the equivalent of 1 DVD purchase a month, if that.

I agree though - the back catalogue is utter mince and if it wasn't for Upflix (shows EVERYTHING that's being added daily, and not just the stuff Netflix are paid to tell you about and lets you add titles to your Netflix watch-list from the app) and other 3rd-party apps like the one you've mentioned I wouldn't get much use out of it.
