  2. PUT ON YOUR TOP HAT, TIE UP YOUR WHITE TIE, AND BRUSH DOWN YOUR TAILS...

We invite you to join us at Krakatoa on Saturday 11th March, to celebrate the twin joys of music and Poundland. We'll be hosting the seventeenth annual instalment of our legendarily shambolic AWARDS CEREMONY - complete with tin-foil podium, and selection of  tat  fabulous trophies for the winners. Three bands will play live - this year, we present the bouncy musical gumbo of GYPSY ROOTS, the sweet prog sounds of the mesmeric SOLQUIN, and the up-tempo party outfit THE SMOKIN BUGLER BAND.

It's best enjoyed with a bucket of gin, and although the whole night is very tongue-in-cheek we still encourage you to get dressed up in a suit / kilt / ballgown. Make the effort, tramps. All winners, should they be in attendance, will be interviewed onstage by your co-host for the night,  hipster  comedian VINCENT PRICE. Crowd participation in terms of cheering (and jeering) is mandatory.

    Facebook Event - https://www.facebook.com/events/148195125663805/

    SO ...

Consider the following six nominees, and vote above. You may vote for more than one choice. You'll also be able to vote on Facebook, at some point soon, and also in person at Krakatoa - paper voting slips will be handed out at gigs. All these votes will be totalled and COMBINED to arrive at our one true champion.

FRI 10 FEBRUARY - KRAKATOA proudly presents:
(Early start, first act onstage 8pm sharp - note: running-order to be chosen by chance on the night)

THE FOUR BEST BANDS IN THE NORTHEAST BATTLE FOR YOUR ATTENTION!

    Winners of semi-final #1 = SONIC BUCKER
    www.facebook.com/Sonicbucker/
A duo from Aberdeen with a sound that has been described as ZZ Top playing The Dead Weather’s 'Sea of Cowards' album. With a style rooted in hooks and riffs, like the great bands that came before them, this is a homage the band aren’t afraid to pay.

    Winners of semi-final #2 = FAR
    www.facebook.com/FaRmusicofficial/
Rock, soul, jazz, funk, reggae, folk and world influences (including Latin, African) inspire this great alternative band, who've been playing all over the country and introducing themselves to festival crowds over the past couple of years.

Winners of semi-final #3 = THE MALPASO GANG
    www.facebook.com/themalpasogang/
A classy five-piece country and western band, on a mission from God (AKA Hank Williams) to bring our infectious brand of alt. old country to the masses. Dancing (and howling at the moon) are guaranteed.

    Winners of semi-final #4 = FULL FAT
    www.facebook.com/fullfatband/
Brilliant alt.blues trio, inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Johnny Cash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Thin Lizzy and Elvis. You'd be mad to miss this.

    Then:

    11pm - 3am NEON LOUNGE

A nocturnal refuge for the free spirited, an incandescent Dionysian antidote to clubbing.

    See you here! #discovertiki #divebar

    www.facebook.com/GyspyRoots/
Who could possibly open such a night of fun and frivolity? Why, let us tell you! A collection of individuals who create music ranging from reggae and gypsy, to punk and funk!

    7.45pm - 8.10pm > Fudge Awards Ceremony pt.1
    www.facebook.com/fudge.aberdeen/
Join us as we celebrate the best Aberdeen bands of the past year - it's The Fudge Awards! In the first half of the live awards ceremony, we'll be dishing out trophys for Best Release, Most Missed, Best Video and the like after a public vote, and trying to get drunk as quickly as possible. We'll drag the winning acts out of the crowd and make them give acceptance speeches to you - it'll be just like the Oscars, but shitter.

    8.30pm - 9pm > SOLQUIN
    www.facebook.com/SolquinBand/
After the first half of the awards ceremony, we'll be handing the stage over to the progressive rock and metal combo, Solquin. Superb. They will cleanse your palatte with intelligent, heavy music.
    Then: back to the awards!

    9.15pm - 9.45pm > Fudge Awards Ceremony pt.2
    www.facebook.com/fudge.aberdeen/
In the second half of tonight's awards ceremony, we'll celebrate the Best Band, Worst Band, Best Newcomer and Best Live Act. To a chorus of deafening crowd participation - and possibly jeering, if I'm any judge - we'll discover who you've picked this year. I hope to be drunk. In addition, joining me onstage to "interview" the winning bands again this year, we have the delectable Vincent Price acting as co-host!

    10pm - 10.45pm > THE SMOKIN BUGLER BAND
    www.facebook.com/TheSmokinBuglerBand/
To polish this gig off with a fine, shiny, supple finish, we have the spectacular rocky vibes of the Smokin' Bugler Band, current holders of 'Best Alternative Act', bring the show to a wonderful finale.

  13. We here at Deadloss Superstar are fairly confident that the first page of the Musicians Union DIY Band Manual states that the ideal time to release your BRAND NEW CHARITY CHRISTMAS SINGLE is 12.45am on a Wednesday.

So here we are then, with our BRAND NEW CHARITY CHRISTMAS SINGLE, in aid of the charity SHELTER.

Despite the song being called "SNOWFLAKES", regrettably it's not really a festive song, so we also remixed it with some sleighbells, ho-ho-ing Santas, a childrens music box and some pealing church bells, all to give it that special holiday cheer. So do enjoy the B-side.

To sum up: please, please take the time to check out our BRAND NEW CHARITY CHRISTMAS SINGLE at the follow link!

Let us dance into the welcoming arms of 2017.

Shelter from the inevitable blizzards, bask in our neon drenched den of tiki, and gyrate on the dance floor like only you can.

Another new year celebration is upon us all, to be soundtracked by ABZ's most on-the-ball counter-culture DJs - those selected from the amazing stable of barely believable raw talent we've built up at Krakatoa during our voyage of audio discovery and dancefloor shape throwing. Dignity intact.

So! Allow DJs Flash and Jimsin to ease you into the new year, and get down with yo' bad self at Krakatoa's Hogmanay Hula!
