  1. Didn't know Yndi Halda were still on the go, I have their first album (which was good in a UK Sigur Ros sort of way). Will have to investigate!
  2. I've had the same one since this website started. My commitment laughs in the face of your commitment, then takes your commitment out for a nice seafood dinner and never calls it back.
  3. You're just saying that 'cause Rhonda Rousey could kick your ass.
  4. It could easily all go a bit Villas-Boas at Chelsea though where the older players were all like "I'm not listening to this young whippersnapper" and baaaaam, gone.
  5. The only time i've ever been in there was a Biffy Clyro gig in the early 2000s. I got some horrendous sort of stomach thing from whatever they were /weren't cleaning the draught pipes with. It was quite a good sized venue for gigs though.
  6. If you're not competing against drums you can probably compensate for that by keeping it at a lower volume, so the room size shouldn't make much difference, especially the rooms at Toms. The shape of the front section of Downstairs would be similar so echo-projection and decay would be similar at lower volumes because the "energy" of the sound would be less. I agree though, If Gav will let you have a go during the day with a long lead so you can stand in the middle of the stage out the font (which I'm sure he will), that would be a good option!
  7. Can you not just book an hour at Toms or MV or something?
  8. He doesn't like being put in the corner either.
  9. My feelings on this go along the same lines as above. Theres an odd swing in tempo in most of the songs, particularly the drumming (whether thats a confidence thing, something that went wrong in recording, intentional or just terrible drumming- i'd hope it was one of the first options), that jarrs in a really offputting way. If it was jazz it would still be odd. It doesn't really grab me much and I think the recording is a bit hollow as well, it lacks any sort of "beef" in the mid-range (the drums not being in-line with the bass doesn't help that) and even if you were going for a fairly lo-fi retro feel it's still possible to get a little bit more clout behind it. I think the only thing that I liked about it on the whole was the Doors vibe I was getting but it's not enough for me to listen again. With regard to the lack of feedback, i'm surprised that certain members on here haven't given you feedback given their high level of involvement in the scene but it's always been a tough sell on here.
  10. Not sure really. I guess, for me, things like living survivors makes a difference. Also, it depends greatly what he's doing with it. If he's wearing it and using its imigary in his artwork etc then not cool, but if it's part of some sort of historic collection in a museum etc its culturaly important. Difficult situation that depends on the sensitivity etc
  11. I don't personally think you can wear Nazi memorabilia and separate it from what it represents. It's a tough one to justify as being "ok" and it's a very visual statement to make. Anselmo has made a prick of himself again, but I love Pantera and his voice so it wouldn't stop me from listening to them (as others have said it's not just him that "makes" Pantera). I'm sure he's a decent enough bloke but whether he thought it was "funny" or he really is a racist or not, I dunno, some people have sick senses of "humour" but he's made one or two similar gaffes over the years. I actually kind of respect him more for not saying "i'm not a racist". An apology for offending someone is less sincere when backing it up with a lie.
  12. How do people feel about Lemmy and his fondness for Nazi memorabilia?
  13. Remember that time a severed pigs head gobbled his rod?
  14. Is that a remake of the UK tv series? It was ok, interested if they've pulled something out of the bag by Americanising it as that usually doesn't happen.
  15. I think the closest I've ever experienced on the overarching grief thing was when Kurt Cobain died, that was without the internet too.
  16. I thought Ward was only a August - January loan with an option to extend or recall? Big miss for Aberdeen though, he's been a major plus point all season and will be awkward to replace now that clangers has gone too. I'm sure they could pick up another youngster itching for game time though.
  17. Quite interested in the new EITS album, I also forgot that there's a new Banks album out this year too!
  18. There is a plethora of church/community halls around Aberdeenshire that you could hire as long as you had your own PA or access to one.
  19. The first episode of 100 Code was good, kind of a mix of True Detective and The Bridge. The only letdown was Dominic Monaghan's American accent, which was appaling.
  20. The best bit of The Internship for me was the line "Who the fuck is this guy" from the Quidditch game.
