There's still stuff like links to porno and violence that get deleted from posts. Would people be allowed to freely post that sort of stuff on a blog if they felt inclined?

That's a very good question. One could argue that because entries to a user's blog/journal is completely under their control then they should be allowed to post what they like (think of it like a user being the sole moderator of their own forum - because that's kinda how the journals would work technically speaking).

However, this would then undermine the established site rules that everyone else has to follow when making posts in any of the forums. What if someone posts a link in a forum to their blog entry that has offensive content linked to within it? I'd need to think that one over more, to be honest. Good point though - I hadn't considered it until now.

I think this could be a good idea, and it would give bands a chance to talk about themselves and their performances in more depth. There's certainly no harm in giving it a try.

sweems like an unnecessary addition that will surely just add costs to an underfunded website.

It would cost nothing to implement (like most features on the site) and the web site is currently running fully funded (and has been for many months) thanks to our kind sponsors, supporting members and advertisers.
