Just to correct maplin is at the Haudagin Roundabout shopping thingy, across from KFC.
Personally i would go to Everest Technologies on Northfield place in Rosemount, you can get a wireless modem and router and a usb wi-fi dongle for £85 quid.

Try http://www.ebuyer.co.uk

I buy a lot from them and they are as cheap as you'll find. Generally very good service (apart from the Citylink deliveries).

I've also got a Sitecom (Pc World) PCMCIA cardbus 802.11b card for sale £20, boxed as new.

It's not too bad, although it can be a bit tepremental. The other thing to do is go to ebuyer and look at the comments left about products then go to Komplett and aria and see if you can find it cheaper.

don't get any of those modem/routers that use conexant chipsets which cost about 50 quid.
they need restarted about every day, and they go wrong eventually.
it's worth paying about 100 quid to get one which will stay on all the time. cheaper ones go wrong after about 80 hours, and need restarted, and it only gets wrose after time
