Default Andy murray rising tennis star?

Andy Murray was beaten by federer in the us open finals but now hes got two majors under his belt, does anyone else think he might actually make it to be world number one in a few years time if not next year?

ATP's aren't majors as far as I'm aware.

I don't see him being better than Nadal in a few years tbh. But fair play to him for doing os well of late. Hopefully he will win a major some time soon.

Actually saying that if he does win a major the media will probably annoy me because no doubt it'll be "UK tennis star wins!" but as soon as he is grumpy with the media again or has a form slump he will be back to being Scottish. As per with the media.

I Know, the media are scumbags at their best. I kind of wish scotland would have idependance from englad so thatthe media can't do that anymore.

I think he'll definately overtake Djokovic in the rankings in the coming year. At the start of the season i didn't really expect him to challenge the top 3, so the lad has come a long way. I fancy him to win a big one in the next 2 seasons.

Over taking djokovic is almost certain, i think anyway. what about simon though? he had a hell of a run the past week. as glad as i was, i was suprised he didn't beat murray after hammering nadal.

He's been in great form over the past few months. Winning the last two Masters events and reaching the final of the US open was somethign I would never have expected earlier this year.

Whether he ever gets to no.1 in the world will probably depend on how consistent Nadal remains over the next few years. With so many great players coming through Nadal is the only one who could hold the position for a long period in the way Federer did, if he doesn't it could end up switching hands quite often.

Next year will be really big for him, hopefully he can maintain this level and go even further. Would be nice if he could win a Grand Slam next year, Aussie open could be a good chance.

He has a great coaching and fitness team, which has spurred him on leaps and bounds this season. If he keeps them on and continues to pick and choose his tournaments well; then the only way is up for the form man in the tennis world.

Let the hype for Wimbledon begin...
