Two of the best rallyers battling it out is great tennis. Neither of them go long or wide that often. Stark contrast was the karlovich/verdasco slug fest. I thought the boring days of big servers was over. Hewitt was excellent today too. |

Also, is it just me, or has women's tennis taken a nosedive in terms of quality in the last few years? Everyone seems capable of beating each other, but there's no real classy players. No Federers or Nadals, ken fit a mean? |

![]() | I think one of the big problem with the women's game is the length of the matches. They now get paid the same as the men but still only play 3 set matches in the slams. This enables average athletes to get to the top of the game. If the women had to develop the stamina needed for 5 set matches then they might see added benefits to the overall rankings and their general play. Fitter players are generally going to be stronger and quicker.

Murray was solid today but that means shit all if he's up against federer in the final coz that guy has the game plan to suit any challenger as he proved today. I fancy Murray to get to the final but, barring a surprise in the other semi, Federer is a heavy favourite. | |

Watched Hewitt v Stepanik earlier in the week and it was an absolute classic. Hewitt was 2 sets down and looked totally out of it but came back to win 3-2. This match is in it's fifth set too, he was down 2-1. The guy just looks so fired up and never ever quits, if Murray doesn't win i hope Hewitt does. |
