MIXTAPE PRESENTS IDC (LONDON) WITH GILES WALKER // FRIDAY 3RD APRIL // SNAFU



“The future king of electronic rock ‘n’ roll.” Quite a statement from International DJ magazine, but this is exactly what IDC is. Hailing from London, IDC has generated quite a reputation within the electro circles. Renowned for his DJ sets at some of the best venues in the world over the past two years, with multiple appearances at UK legends such as Together London through to regular worldwide main room headline sets at clubs including Volar Hong Kong, Zouk Singapore and Razzmatazz in Barcelona, IDC is nothing less than a savage injection of visceral dance floor energy.

Described as Hot Chip meets T-Rex, the hybrid of rock, electro and breakbeat that IDC, or David McCarthy to his mum, is responsible for does not sound like Basement Jaxx remixing Prodigy, Prodigy jamming with Jimi Hendrix or indeed any artist you care to name ‘on acid’. With a grungy sound, that meets disco, electro, techno and rock half way, IDC defies the boundaries of a genre, creating a unique and brand new sound, with an aim to smash up dancefloors all over the world.

With debut album, “Overthrow The Boss Class”, released in 2008 to much critical acclaim, and with the eagerly anticipated Phil Ward (Lo Fidelity Allstars) fronted, “Imaginary Bones”, single being released in April this year, IDC is gearing himself for a year of raucous romping and destroying speaker stacks all over Britain.

After recently warming up for the likes of 2manydjs and Calvin Harris, as well as playing the infamous Destroy Disco in St Andrews with Mylo and Erol Alkan of all people, IDC is mixing it with the big boys and is definitely one to look out for, in what already looks like a promising 2009 for the one man electro-machine.

IDC plays Snafu on the 3rd April.
