One for the post-Detroit generation, this is going to be a roadblock!

Joris Voorn is a producer and DJ from Rotterdam, and having been raised in a musical family, music naturally became an intrinsic part of his life. Electronic music was a natural progression for Joris, and in mid-90’s, after developing a more focused interest in house and techno, Joris invested in an MC-303 Groovebox experimenting with synth sounds and drumloops. In 2000 he built a small studio to produce his own music, which led to his first release - ‘Muted Trax Pt.1’ on Keynote, a massive success hailed by Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, DJ Rush, Technasia and many more.

In 2004 he released the two ‘The Lost Memories’ EPs which included the big dancefloor cuts ‘Missing’ and ‘Incident’, the latter of which became one of the most hammered anthems of the year, charted in almost every dance magazine worth its salt, made No. 1 in Mixmag’s Techno singles chart, was playlisted by John Peel and was championed by Carl Cox. Joris then released his debut CD album, ‘Future History’ on the Sino label, which encompasses 3 years of ideas and inspiration, and is a seamless soundscape which affirmed his arrival as one of the most relevant techno producers around.

In 2006 the first release under his own ‘Green’ label, named ‘MPX_309’, was a crossover techno work, which was played out by techno, minimal, house and trance DJs alike. His second album, ‘From A Deep Place’ was released worldwide in June last year. This piece of work features a broad spectrum of electronic music, ranging from atmospheric interludes to broken beats, house and deep soulful techno. Received enthusiastically by the electronic music community, the focus point of the music is the listener rather than the dancer, however, some of the tracks were edited to more DJ friendly tracks for the vinyl release of the album.

Together with his friend Edwin Oosterwal, Joris also established the ‘Rejected’ record label at the end of 2006. Their first EP, featuring ‘SL3’and ‘Cliché’, became an instant success and was played out by almost every self-respecting DJ around the globe. As a DJ and live performer Joris Voorn has joined an elite group of international DJs whose musical talent has acquired global appeal. He has performed across Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Colombia, US and, now finally, Aberdeen.
