It's the most boring horror you'll ever watch |

The problem of course is that we need energy to convert them. There are about a trillion tons of oil shale under the Colorado mountains, for example. One major head fuck that isn't mentioned in this piece is that even if we did build hundreds and thousands of new fission reactors to replace the energy we get from oil, known uranium ore deposits would last a mere 30 years. We need to get up to that moon, and get that helium 3 |

We need to get on the case, as I in no way fancy living like a caveman, or without a PC for that matter. No need for the moon, just get massed arrays of panels in orbit, and microwave the power back to the surface*, then mine the moon and asteroids**. Just don't let any shifty super-villain types near the controls for the hi energy beam, or that. So then it is only the growing of Hemp, on marginal non-agricultural land, where fortunately it thrives, that can bridge the gap if Peak Oil hits before we are ready, which it almost certainly will, given the casual attitude shown by government and commerce. Thankfully Hemp biofuel COULD*** keep our shit going while we proceed with decarbonisation, and as it is a multi-annual crop in the tropics, it can absorb about 4 times as much CO2, per annum as an equivalent hectare of tree forest. Anyway, let Jack tell you the rest if anyone is interested. Made from Cannabis Hemp Welcome to Jack Herer's Home on the Web And the best single resource on the plant, The Emperor Wears No Clothes. Jack Herer - Chapters *This is in no way beyond our capabilities, but would need to be collaborative on a scale beyond (apparent) human nature. ** This too. *** Oh yeah, some idiots have kept this shit banned for too long, well we are getting what we tolerate, as a culture and a biosphere. Look at what happened in America during the oil commodity price crazy bull-run. Ethanol fuel production and usage surged. Unfortunately, they were making it out of corn. Why? Because the US government subsidises corn production. Hemp, you can't smoke it but your car can.* *Diesel car. And no turbos. And you need to backwash the engine with petro-diesel when you start or stop the engine. This has been a public safety EDIT for morons with access to hemp oil. All UK weed is fucking rubbish, suitable only for addicting primates in incredibly cruel and biased government research. Fuck triad skunk, gimme some C99!!! Ina vaporiser. However, I wanted to add that having viewed the entirety of this series, I wish I'd started a thread called 'crash course' instead. If you've got the time, check this youtube series out, it's everything you need to know about our future: Chris Martenson | chapters - The Crash Course - chapters, Crash Course, Economy, Energy, environment, Peak Oil, videos |
