My initial thought is that Walter Wagner doesn't know what he is talking about.

I'm sure if there was a serious chance of the world being destroyed, they probably wouldn't do it.

Not going to happen but I've been loving all the coverage the LHC is getting in the meantime. Giving me ample opportunity to geek out on the subject.

I am doubting that we will know if it does destroy the world, kind of "doesn't matter"...eh, the last thing you'll see is your finger getting slightly longer...then *piff*......nothing.

BUt...I don't think it's going to happen.

What is pissing me off, is the "fact" that scientists know that the "conditions" created are like the first "billions of a second" after the big bang.
How do they know that these conditions, in such a micro scale (protons colliding) will be the same as "the big bang"? - if no protons "existed" before the big bang, how can two protons colliding "replicate" such an event?...that just doesn't add up for me. (but....it's obviously a very massssssssive over simplification.) - ps, thoses S's are for the pedants out there... he he
