Excellent choice by McCain, although completely out of the blue. She'll pacify the pro-life, conservative wing of the party while attracting votes from those who feel Obama is too elitist and inexperienced to do the job. It's also worth noting that, of the four presidential and vice-presidential candidates, she's the only one with experience of actually governing a state, rather than representing one in Congress.

i don't get how obama is perceived as elitist. particularly against john mccain who is hardly a man of the people himself.

still, it is a good choice by mccain.

I think this is a really bad choice for McCain. Romney (or many others) would have been much better.

Tempted to agree myself. She is a complete unknown...even in the US. Time will tell though, I suppose.

It's great to know that when McSame has his heart attack we'll have a anti-abortion soccer mom with 18 month experience governing Alaska to take the helm.

I heard somewhere last week that over a third of the female Hillary supporters said they would now vote Republican. I'd imagine that figure has just risen somewhat.
Scary how little this election has to do with actual politics.

I'm all for Obama, but the football stadium politics and tacky God-thanking during his rally the other night was pretty sickening.

Because of a pro life and pro gun lady on the ticket? Hardly appealing to womens issues.
