I think Boris Johnson got in on the basis that he isn't Ken Livingstone, which is never a good thing in Politics. However, he did win, the people voted for him and fair play to him.

It's interesting to read all these comments about bad Ken / good Boris...
if it's congestion charges that are the main concern, I think people actually found it beneficial (except the rich people who still insist on using cars to drive 1 mile into the centre of London, instead of jumping on a bus (with "oiks, what what")).

I think it's a disaster to have a Beano character running one of the world’s most important city. I look forward with dread and anticipation as to what the fooook is going to happen over the next year (let alone 4). I just hope that it is the old adage that Civil servants are the ones with real power - not the monkeys we vote in.

I can't believe I'm even discussing Boris Johnson as a PM candidate. Imagine Justin Lee Collins with a severe hatred for the Scottish starring in a film called 'Carry On Being Prime Minister', that's what it would be like.
