But yeah, I've experienced this shitty curfew in the Broch and it solves nothing and ruins everything.

Imagine the scenario - somebody drags you off to Liquid against your better judgement. You tell yourself you'll stay for a few drinks and then bale to somewhere more... tasteful? Good? Anyway, before you know it, it's 12:31 and you have to either stay there the WHOLE NIGHT, or piss of home with your tail between your legs. Bitter.

We have a similar thing in Elgin, which results in either:

1. Leaving pub about 10.30pm-11.30pm, to head to the (only) nightclub, as there is usually a queue by midnight.
2. Going to the nightclub about 9.30pm, as there are BOGOF offers till 10.30pm. Then staying in same shitey club for the next 5 hours
3. We tend to sneak in around 12.20 to the restaurant, which is connected to the nightclub, as you can sit and banter in there, till they open the door that connects to the club at 1.30am.

Perhaps places like the Bassment and Moshulu will prosper more, as they connect as a building. So people will stay in Bassment till 1amish (if its open that late), then wander to Moshulu without having to go outside.

Triple Kirks and Exodus could have a similar idea, where if you are in Triple Kirks before 12.30, you could stay there till 2amish until there is room to go upstairs??

All in all it's pretty rubbish. But, like the smoking ban, people get used to it.

This sounds like a terrible idea and if it makes any positive contribution to security (which I doubt), it will be simply because there are less people out at that time of night.

If it was extended to 1:30 on Friday and Saturday, that could be workable however as some clubs don't let anyone in after 2am anyway.
