TV news is just tedious, often biased, usually tabloidy and simplistic and served up at a snails pace, it infuriates me.
I don't see a great deal of difference between the lurid splash headlines on Antiwar.com and those in the mainstream...apart from the the fact that the mainstream is entirely devoted to Di/Maddy/Colleen/<abductee/teenage stab victim of the month> and Antiwar's are about...well, war!

I absolutely, 100% agree with you. But then again, some people don't like 'poisonous leftist spin'!

You may be suprised to read that antiwar.com is actually a right wing anti-war site.

Who we Are - Antiwar.com

It is primarily run by Americans who concider themselves libertarians and like the idea of small government and a policy non-interventionism

on original point.

I watch Channel 4 news primarily. I admire the way the journalists make the politicians and other people being interviewed acutlaly answer the questions. BBC do not do this so much unless it is Jeremy Paxman or someone who is not on the 'main news'. I have found BBC news has got a bit worse in the last few years. The way they cover a story is usually not as hard hitting as channel 4 news and they have been taking more simplistic viewpoints.

I get The Independent. One reason for this was a few years a go it was fascinating to read the Robert Fisk stories, straight from Iraq and then Lebanon. Unlike other journalists, he actually lived in the place he reported from and was the first hand source. In Iraq, most journalists stayed inside the 'green zone' where possible. Fisk was at the place where the events were happening.

On internet, I will read various sites and none in particular at the moment.

A few years a go, I read The Guardian website quite often and found it quite useful. Don't know what it is like these days.

I read the BBC news website, mostly for the left wing spin they put on everything. I occasionally read the Guardian website.

As for TV news, it generally annoys me now, seeming to focus on presentation and entertainment rather than focussing on the actual story.

Fox News is good for a laugh though, although watching too long leaves me shouting at the TV like an irate old man.

I try and avoid news like the plague as it's invariably "bad" and often tedious in both content and delivery. To cap it all off, i generally don't give a shit about it (unless it directly affects me) as well.

The Times - I just like a couple of the regular writers.

Did someone say they watch BBC 24? As if doing so is anywhere remotely close to a worthwhile use of time?

Good call, been a subscriber for years. £9 gets you the weekly paper, monthly review and quarterly journal, the journal is particularly recommended. The only remotely decent source of news I've ever seen.

Priceless. Reminds of me of when Denis Thatcher called the BBC the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation, and the gin-soaked old goat even believed it...

I just can't wait for the Tories to get in and privatise it. I really begrudge paying my license fee for a service which is so consistently biased in favour of the left, and never, ever gives proper consideration to any other point of view. I've lost count of the amount of times Conservative policy has been reported as "Labour today condemned Conservative plans to...".

I'm surprised Thatcher didn't didn't cast them adrift back in the 80's. Even back then the favourable coverage they gave to scumbags like Scargill was too much to take.

Biased BBC
