Default anti abortion tshirt - 29-06-2007, 17:49

BBC NEWS | Scotland | North East/N Isles | School bans anti-abortion T-shirt

anyone seen this?

Imagine if this young lady was presented with people with t-shirts saying "have an abortion, they're greeeeeat" would she complain it was offensive and hope that teachers would request the wearer to remove it?

Sorry folks, but a 16-year-old mum preaching to others....

Gie's peace!

Maybe a "Safe Sex" T-Shirt would have been more appropriate.

Ps - I heard all the commotion put wee baby Tyrone-Jordan-JayZee right aff his fags.

I heard her interviewed on the radio earlier. She said when she found herself pregnant she decided she would do some research into abortion. She then complained that she had to do it all at home
"because all the pro-life websites were blocked at school"
which possibly gives a clue as to how balanced her 'research' was...

Yeah, a safe-sex tshirt would have been better, but she's had a kid so she obviously didn't feel it was an option...

It's not exactly a tasteful tshirt anyway, it looks like something you'd get from a crappy stall after a gig...

If she's so anti-abortion why feel the need to wear a tshirt saying it? I don't have an "anti-peadophillia" tshirt.

The playboy logo doesn't offend me. As a brand it's actually quite disassociated with 'pornography' and much more closely associated with glamour and money and celebrity and excess. Neither does that silly little girl's T-shirt offend me. I don't really give a fuck what lost cause she wants to promote. It's just a shame that her 16 year old fanny is now in tatters. The boys in Banff must be gutted.

Because teen pregnancy and abortion is a relevant, continually ascending issue at her school and society as a whole. The reason you don't wear an anti-paedophilia t-shirt is because A, it's generally not an issue that permits two explicit stand-points (one being universally accepted as 'right', thus there is no debate, and no need to advertise) and B: you have never been personally affected by the issue you'd apparently be protesting against, something which generally motivates people into particular standpoints. Or I've touched a nerve; you were raped.

This hardly feels like a newsworthy debate - teenagers and badly-formed opinions go back a long way.

Whilst writing this I read the introduction to Rik Waller's wikipedia page.

Ok yeah, fair enough the anti-peadophillia was a bad example in that I haven't been a victim of it (thankfully) and it's not generally seen as a debatable thing.

The lassy does just seem to be wanting a big reaction out of everyone, it wasn't exactly a tastefully printed slogan either (the dripping blood). The girl just wants attention. it's obvious from her smug look.

It's actually a perfectly valid opinion.
