Looking through an old notebook dated 2/4/94. Ten bloody years ago!

Phone numbers, addresses - Katy Swarbrick, Sally Bayly, Vicky Lawson, Alex, Jo B, Cathy (a heart beside that one), Steph Anstell, Abi, Amanda, Sian, Morag, Anna, Julie Jones... I'm pretty sure I slept with a lot of these, but I don't remember them at all... oh, hang on, I remember Vicky Lawson, she sat for two hours in a casualty department in Liverpool with me when I inexplicably passed out in her flat. She'd appeared on 'Supermarket Sweep', as I remember...

Jesus, is it possible to forget so much that happened just ten years ago? How do people possibly write autobiographies? I know I was taking a hell of a lot of acid, but Julian Cope managed to write about his life, and I'm sure my intake, large as it was, couldn't rival his.

Some stuff I do remember. Philip. He died of bowel cancer, only 23. I lent him my telly when he got ill so he could lie in bed and watch it. Never had the heart to go and ask his parents for it back after he died.

Cath Daydream. She had a set of slides that Marc Bolan's lighting guy had used. I thought that was so cool.

Marie Claire. Yes, that was her real name. She was fantastic at sex, it was a real talent. She looked a bit like Betty Boo too.

Tracey. Mad Welsh midget girl who introduced me to the music of Nick Drake. Nutter. I remember he dancing barefoot on broken glass all night at The Ritz in Manchester. Last known drumming in a band called Bette Davis & The Balconettes.

Dennis Duncan. A Suede groupie. Nice chap.

Talya. Very cool, drummed in a band I used to sing in. Loved collecting junk, had the biggest collection of 8-track cassettes I've ever seen.

Michelle Kerry. Suede's 'Mum'. Just a young girl, used to look after them on tour.

Alex. Ran the Pulp fanclub. Very nice girl. We used to write long letters to each other on trains.
