Sigh. Here we go. As many regular visitors to this forum will know, this is my least favourite time of the year. Fucking Halloween. Fucking bonfire night. Get dressed up, burn things. I'm so depressed by it all I can't even summon up the energy to type a bilious invective. Insert your own here.
Rumour has it that some people actually enjoy Halloween and have things like parties. Are you one of those people? Good on you, I hope you enjoy yourself, truly. Also some people enjoy bonfire night, actually burn things in their own gardens, buy fireworks, set them off and go 'ooh'. Are you one of those people? Fuck off and die.

What?! This is my favourite time of year, featuring two of my Top 5 favourite days! (1. Halloween, 2. Hogmanay, 3. Bonfire Night) What's more fun than playing at being something else, being idiotic, staring into massive fires and watching fireworks?

I'm dressing up as a Jawa, had a test run on Wednesday which was good except for people calling me a Wookie (?!) and the lightbulbs kind of burning my face. Repairs will be made before tomorrow.

Also yesterday I was in Subway and a little girl came in and said "TWIK O TWET CAN I HAV SUM CWISPS PLES O PLES SAY YES AN BE QUIK MY FRENZ ARE GOING O PLEZZZZ!!!" then grabbed a few packets of crisps and ran away. I couldn't believe it. I suppose that's one of the downsides of Halloween.

PS< I gave up on halloween when I was 16.....but now i have a daughter...I am looking forward to having parties for her and her friends when she's older....dookin for apples, sweets in flour...spooky stories...love it.

as for the "student" Halloween contingency, if yer not inventive - don't bother.

Of course every day is a day to dress up and have fun, and I gain a great happiness from doing so at every opportunity. However I equally feel I have to defend the days on which tradition rules that we all do it, because without them, some people would never be struck with creativity and mischievous feelings! In addisch', such days allow the more inhibited, who perhaps would like to dress up at other times but feel it is a social impossibilty, to free themselves. For these reasons, I reckon a co-ordinated day of exuberance is better than no day at all, and even if you feel you're conforming to a rule by participating, you can break traditions in other ways (which is where lepeep comes in):

It would be against my previous paragraph to agree with the 'don't bother': for the student types whose "creativity and mischievous feelings" extend to a smear of fake blood and a bucket of licker, that is at least one step better than no fake blood and a bucket of licker; I'm willing to party with them but at the same time I would, for sure, extol the fun and excellence of original costumes.

Man I can't wait til tomorrow. I have a tutorial at 8.30am which I might wear my costume to (lol, student randomnezz )
