Betty Boo has insisted that she was approached to write solo songs for Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole.

The singer, whose real name is Alison Clarkson, recently revealed that Cheryl was making plans for a solo career. However, Cole quickly accused Clarkson of telling lies, and claimed that she was using Girls Aloud to promote her new single 'Take Off'.

"I did not make that story up. Colin Barlow from her record company approached my manager about the project," Alison told the Daily Star. "Management were thinking ahead and it's a well-known secret in the record industry that Girls Aloud are going to split up.

"I was asked if I'd get involved in future and I mentioned it during a radio interview. Cheryl then said I was lying but it's not my fault if her people hadn't told her we'd spoken."

I'm torn. I don't want to believe Betty, but I feel I must. Sniff.
