So Winehouse is going the same way as Doherty, ie highly public fuck-up. Her record company can't be too unhappy just now, album has climbed back up the charts, there's no such thing as bad publicity etc etc. Will she get herself back together and make another multi-million selling LP, or die in a Camden gutter? A bit of a win-win for them, no?
Drugs and music go hand in hand, but is it a case of everything in moderation, or live fast die young? Or is it really the ghoulish side of us saying the latter but thinking 'as long as it isn't me'? Nothing quite so entertaining than watching someone elses's life unravelling in public.

amy winehouse is awful in so many ways, if people like her and pete docherty want to run themselves into the ground with drugs I'm all for it.

Sure drugs and music are interwined but where does the attitude of reckless excess come from? Like the whole thing of "rockstars" being permanently off their tits on charlie and smashing up hotel rooms etc in the past, how did that come about and why is it seen by some as part of the "lifestyle"? Surely they are just twats with more money than intellect.

Yes, i think it should be investigated as far as possible. I can't believe that Pete Doherty is still allowed to walk the streets. If i'd commited as many drugs offenses as Winehouse and Doherty i'd be in prison for a considerable stretch. It's nonsense and the press should be pushing for these imbeciles to be incarcerated for their (and the general publics) best interests. Rehab doesn't work for these losers as they can't stay off their drugs of choice for long enough to consider actually putting in the effort it requires to get clean.

Remove being able to do something they love (music) from under their noses rather than their latest 6 gram personal haul and they might actually get somewhere.
