The marvellousness of Rihanna has been oft discussed on this forum so you may suspect where I stand on this (yes, you guessed it, she can stay at number one for ten more weeks as far as I'm concerned)... but how about you droogies and devotchkas out there in real world land? Are you sick of heartily sick of 'Umbrella' (ella ella ella hey hey hey )yet? Do you think the fates conspired to bring us the perfect soundtrack to a shite Summer, or do you believe she has magical powers and is compounding our misery just to keep herself on top of the pile? Maybe you don't care because you don't have anything to do with all that pop shit? Maybe you don't care because she's a silver woman with perfect hair and because of that she could sound like Phil Collins sitting on a Chihuahua's face and it wouldn't matter... sigh....

I do sense Gordon Brown making the decision to blame all the flooding on her though.


It doesn't really matter though, Kate Nash is ahead of her in the midweeks... which in itself is a major disappointment, what with Song For Mutya out this week.

If it wasn't for my insane love of Lavigne, I'd say Umbrella was my song of the year, and up there with the likes of Biology as a modern pop classic. It sounds so wrong describing a song that's only been out for 11 weeks as a 'classic', but in my opinion, it's already reached that status.
Saying that though, with Girlfriend being a blatant (yet mighty fine) rip off, the crown has to go to Rhianna.
It's one of those rare nuggets of pure pop genius, a la Biology/Push The Button. If it doesn't win every 'Song of the Year' award I'll be gutted.
And the video is amazing. I think it's just all the shiny things, but I get completely hypnotised when it's on. I actually at first thought her body was oddly disproportionate in the whole french maid-esque outfit, but having watched alot of other performances by her recently, she has a cracking body. Must just be the tv skewing her or something.
Anyway, that was a bit of a non-sensicle ramble, with the bottom line being I love Rhianna. And her Umbrella. Ella. Etc.
