Default Boopoll Of The Week (119)

So, in a week that has seen political turmoil in the Scottish elections, possible rioting in France because they've just voted for Thatcherism and history being made in Northern Ireland, the Boopoll could have only been about one thing...

Which ex-Sugababe is the best? Here at Boo control we have always loved Siobhan Donaghy since she climbed out of a toilet window to get away from the mean girls and 'Don't Give It Up' hasn't changed that. We love her Palitoy Kate Bushisms, backwards reverb drenched backing vocals and especially her lovely wobbly red hair. Mutya, oh Mutya, we loves you too and that song on the radio is not at all unpleasant, growing on us even. Could reach a plateau and spiral off into annoying though, and those cloying 'stay true to yerself lyrics' leave something to be desired. We say round one to the ginger princess.

Once you hear (Song For Mutya) Out Of Control you will realise that she truly is the queen of them all, and the rest aren't worth debating.

although honourable mention to Siobhan, the new album is very good

Im not sure about Mutya at all

Acyually no , Im 101% sure.

She cant sing or dance and looks like a troll. The new song is derivitaive of something else completely average and is full of really flat notes (A Mutly trademark) Go home woman before you embarress yourself.

Siobhan registers a fair bit higher on the Beta-o-meter. But only a 6.5 (out of 10). All gloss and no edge. Maybe an extra point for ducking current trends tho. 7.5 then.

On the hole, the Sugababes are a concept and a product of some amazing pop songwriting and production. This is despite the talentless lasses themselves in my opinion. They could be just about anyone, and are therefor glove puppets. 99% of the plaudits for this ''band'' need to be directed at the magicians behind the scenes.

Unlike Rhianna who is just fucking fab. Move over laydeez, the nu Queen has arrived!

No no no, just no!

Keisha is quite obviously the puppetmaster. There isn't some big suga conspiracy, okay perhaps initially but you must remember they got dropped after their first album, lost all contracts, management, band member etc. and it was little 16 year old Keisha that bitched and clawed her way back. Clever clever girl.

And as for Mutya being bland... Ho boy! She's playing it very very cleverly too, not Keisha clever, but cunning fox clever. She's testing the water with a lovely summery song to remind people she's here, with a disctinctive sample and lyrics reminding us how normal she is - distancing herself from the subabitchiness. Before she unleashes the utterly amazing and mindblowing electropop-fest that is Out Of Control. You just wait! You just wait.

And it's whole not hole - don't let miss Keisha see you misusing the English language.

Too right - her latest offering (song, video and hair - mustn't forget hair) gets top marks here!

It's totally Mutya!

Siobhan might have the more edgy, credibility but Mutya is a pop queen. She can sing and dance, yet she looks like she could still beat most heavyweight boxers black and blue.

She also looked amazing in the video for Push the Button.

The vid is IN CRED IBLE. The vocals are delicious. She can dance, pose and looks like an angel but dressed in much cooler stuff than angels generally wear.

I didnt think SOS could be followed up - but Umbrella is the perfect mix of eazy cheezy RnB and lovely bubbly electropop. Perfection. Broke the Beta-o-meter!

PS. On a less accomplished note - Me and the Shaz finished the first proper Ferrari Rocher recordink last nicht. Will post a diskette for your oral pleasure soonestestestest...

Ugh I will never forgive Rianna for the crime against songwriting that was Murderer.

100% Mutya.

Twas a bit shit but all genius is flawed. 3 massivo singles and 1 shit one is a decent ratio. Mutly hasnt registed 1 decent tune yet IMO and never will unless she gets a voice transplant. File under Lily Allen, Samantha Bedingfeild and Gareth Gates.

Rhianna on the tele last night (Radio 1 gig in Preston) - looked like batteries went in her remote microphone but the fucking hairdoo and the strut.....!!!!

How awful are the stereophonics??? Why are they on TV? Why are they allowed to be alive?

Missed LCD SS and CSS but should catch em with the red button tonite - yeeha!

Who is Samantha Bedingfield? Don't tell me there's another bloody one: Daniel, Natasha and the impending pop enslaught of Nikola is more than enough for me.
