Default Mundane jobs? - 01-02-2007, 13:33

For a project I'm working on at the moment I need info you folks may be able to help with... not having been too much of an office monkey in my time I have little to draw on, and I need details of a mundane office job. If you have experience of such a thing I need to know what your duties are/were in as much detail as you can give. A civil service job would be ideal, paper shuffling, filing, data entry, you know the sort of thing. PM me or post your details here. If they are of use there's a Boo treat in it for you...

For my work experience I ended up in Doc Control (REALLY dull) where they paper shift to the max. I had to archive over 100 boxes. To archive a box you had to list the contained dossiers of said box onto an excel spreadsheet and then stick it to the lid. Most boxes had about 40 dossiers with thrilling titles such as, “Well Head management for Brae Bravo Platform” blah blah… That was rather dull and pretty repetitive.

The only highlight was drinking packet soup all day and picking out all the freeze dried veggies as they’re the best bit

Default processing bills - 01-02-2007, 14:23

I had to take receipts from purchasing and process them so that companies got paid on time, I found out that crappy Malt Mill type cover bands were getting over £1500 for a shit set followed by a shitter disco at shit company dos attended by fuckwits who wouldn't know a decent song or band if it sucked them off in the bogs and tattoed it's name all over their stupid hairy mooning fae their kilt clad arses.
I couldn't help notice that the homophobic retards wholeheartedly enjoyed lifting their kilts, showing off their tiny drunken cocks to each other, and am pretty sure that all their homophobia was a rather stupid attempt at hiding their homoerotic fantasies.
Work in an office also involves being with some really nice people, but the kiss ass clipey arseholes, lying dickheads, and fat arsed moaning bitches are anough to put me off for life.
Positive points included playing computer games, checking oot some bints coapy baps and arse and getting a hot lunch delivered to my office, as well as lots of money every month, but FUCK THAT, I'd rather be paid in beer to DJ for Fudge than waste my life making greedy shareholders even wealthier for 37 and a half hours a week.

It's for a script where the main character has such a job...

Does he feel like he has had his motivation and drive sucked through his eyeballs onto a computer screen and the only way he can feel normal is by hatching ridiculously complicated and intricate schemes to try and claim his mind back?

I am the champion at having boring office jobs. Its all Ive ever done, apart from drive a taxi for a few weeks (which was actually even more boring) and dig dirt down on a building site which was actually was brilliant but didnt pay for my basic needs (Musical Instruments, Alchohol, Football Tickets, Clothes, Nightclubs etc). The only way to get through it is to live in a fantasy bubble world by day ''In my head Im dead and not actually here'' and live all of your non-office encapsulated life in the un-dullest way you can. I only know of three other people (out of hundreds) who actually utilise this office survival method. Most office workers are willing clones who conform and live the office dream to the max. Its actually competitive conformity which is disgusting to watch. It feels unclean. What it actually involves I dont know and dont want to. I dont get involved.
Its a trade off. I sell them my dead soul by day in return for them paying me to be alive by night.

i tried a mundane office job for 5 months but found it was just too much crap. mine wasn't too mundane though as i had a load of responsibility and was doing much more than my job description for much less money than a lot of the permanent staff in the office. i left recently to return to retail in an effort to not become a hyperstressed bitchy office worker like so many others in that workplace. i am much happier but worse off financially.
