In a week when something (kinda oooh) remarkable happens - i.e. Girls Aloud's Greatest Hits debut's at number 1 on the album chart, the media is abuzz with claims that pop music really does seem to be back from the dead.
However, all is not well in the land of pop.
Wigwam's Wigwam - argueably one of the greatest pop singles this year was released and made it to number 60.
Patrick Wolf released, not just the finest pop song, but quite possibly the best song that will be released this year and it didn't even scrape into the top 75.
Alesha (M with the I with the S-T double E Q) released knockdown - charted number 45 - bad week to be her really actually - poor javine my arse.
Westlife returned with yet another round of ballad torture, this time taking on good ole bette. The Rose is no doubt going to go top 5 - quite possibly number 1 if it can knock Freddie Le Grande off the top. People will buy any kind of drivel.
All Saints spectacularly returned to form with the brilliant Rock Steady. It will be a hit, but by gum Westlife will sell more copies even without standing up at the key change - even Shaznay's over-zealous freckling won't help.
10 days from now,
Take That will return in far less spectacular manner. They will however go straight to the top of the charts and stay there for a few weeks, even though
Patience sounds like something James Blunt shat out his mouth.
When will the record buying public stop being shit! They'll buy any old crap and allow actual talent to be dropped before they even get to release and album. What can be done to remedy this situation?
Finally praemonitus praemunitus
