I actually answered the door at my parents a few years ago to, "Trick or treat" and I said, "Trick". The kids looked confused. I refused to give any of them anything until all of them told a joke. One kid was a smart arse and refused to tell one so I gave him nothing and everyone else a huge bag of Haribo. Stupid kid.

But then again, that doesn't explain why it's so big in Aberdeen. Nice excuse to get pissed anyway?
Do we really need an excuse to get pissed anymore?

'Fancy a pint?'

'Aye. Where?'

'Anywhere they've got draught.'

'Only the one, mind.'

'Aye. Right.'

Bu to get back on topic I really don't see the point. Even as a child I couldn't be arsed with it and now as I approcah grumpy-old-manny-dom and I see folk in fancy dress I just think what a load of wank.

Tomorrow Hallowe'en will be shown on TV for the umpteenth time - not a bad thing I reckon, but come on. Dedicate the whole day to repaets of evry singlle episode of Rentaghost.

Is that too much to ask?

what I want to know is since when did halloween mean little neds have to around throwing eggs at people? What has that got to do with anything?

As for trick or treating we used to go out armed with some horrendous jokes as our tricks. The best bit was a local artist who used to tell us ghost stories before dishing out some coppers and penny sweets.

I've always made a big deal of Halloween but then my dad's American so that's probably got something to do with it. I love getting dressed up so that's probably why. This year I've taken the pumpkin carving thing to a whole new level. Craig and I made Animal from the Muppets and I've made Chewbacca. I'll post pics when I get them online.

It's definately american influence, all this pumpkin crap and tacky plastic costumes for kids, all totally divorced from any original celtic significance.

The funniest part is all the 20-somethings who still get dressed up as if they were 8 year olds.
