Default Boopoll Of The Week (105)

So, the mighty MCR stand atop the hit parade like all-conquering emo oompah-loompahs. Is this the beginning of the end? Is this the end of the beginning? Are we somewhere in between? What does this all mean? Well, I for one want to shake their chubby little hands for toppling Razorlight from the number one spot, but I can't get this niggle out of my head - maybe it's the uniforms, maybe it's the imagery, maybe I'm having a bad acid flashback, but whenever I see or hear My Chemical Romance I can't help thinking of Marillion....

Three Cheers... (their last album) was phenomenal, much better than the first one. I've always thought they sound a lot like queen, especially their instant-anthem tunes. Unfortunately there's not many other bands who can do it that well.

I'd say it was the begining of the end, simply because Nu-Metal didn't last much longer than this.

the only my chemical romance song i've heard is 'i'm not ok, i'm okaaaaaaaaaaaaayy!' it's irritatingly catchy.

unfortunately, with the sheer number of little impressional children that "the romance" have their influence over I have a sneaking suspicion that mainstream emo isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

and worse than that, all those little emo children are out future*. They are going to form the bands that our children, and our children's children idolize. This is going to go on for a very long time, and it is going to affect numerous professions across the globe. Very soon barbers will very soon forget the skills for short back and sides. Very soon fashion houses will forget that they are allowed to use colour in their collections. Very soon - well no, in like 60 years, we will have a generation living in retirement homes mincing around with their zimmer frames, bumping into things due to their hair masking their eyes.

Saying that, it is a tune!

I'd agree with Paul by saying Three Cheers was a great album.
Simply it was. It had catchy chorus' and riffs, and the vocals were spot on.

This new song though is a bit pap.
Which is good because they grew a bit of an ego since finding success.

'Emo' will become the modern day equivalent of Goffs, still cropping up in towns across the land as tortured students find an identity they think sets them apart, never realising that they have instantly become a point of ridicule.
There were some good 'Goff' bands however, Sisters Of Mercy, etc, even The Mission had a couple of good tunes. My Chemical Romance however are pish. Unfortunately my g/f likes them, I just go and listen to Dark Side Of The 80's.
