Not having access to your Earth radio or 'posh telly', I'm often pretty late in hearing these nu artistes and have usually heard the hyperbole long before the music. Saw him on TV last nite and he reminded me of a lot of the insecure fuck-ups I ended up sharing flats with in Liverpool who seem charming and lovely but end up chain smoking in the corner whilst scraping out the ashtray with their false teeth and letting their cats piss all over the video.
Affected? Jesus H., get over yerself! That voice - he thinks he sounds like Nina Simone but he actually sounds like Vic Reeves doing Bryan Ferry on helium. And his band of uber-pretentious New York 'trendy uncles'... Emperor's new clothes, yes?

Look, I really wanted to like this guy - I was expecting something like Plush or The Magnetic Fields but all I saw was an affected, self-indulgent arsewipe who really can't get a handle on the fact that he's gone bald. Maybe the piece on TV didn't help, being filtered through some ageing Hoxton wanker's lens, but sorry, I just can't get on with that voice, and the physical affectations just make me shudder, simply because I've seen them in too many fucked-up pseudy trustfunders...

You know, I think the record is good but I can relate to what Mr. Boo says here. Honestly, I stay away from watching any sort of footage of any artist because for the most part they will just annoy me. Antony's mannerisms are ridiculous and annoying and I can totally relate to what you are saying. Yes, his band is full of fashionista trust fund morons from Williamsburg. A couple of those suck ass hacks are also from Austin, which is easily turning the reputation of my hometown into the toilet. Having said that though, I think his record is beautiful and I mostly listened to it because it had Devandra Banheart and Lou Reed on the record. I thought it would be interesting to hear what they guy was doing. It's definitely no Magnetic Fields or Xiu Xiu that's for sure.
