I can remember my partner of the times' 15 year old son coming into the room ashen faced on the verge of tears and telling us, Kurts dead. Nevermind as an album without the social stereo typed following was a masterpiece. I still drag it out now and then and stick it on, it still stirs emotions I can't explain. On a lighter note Layne Staley of Alice in Chains is up for a somthin'th aneversary on the 20th of April, another excuse for me to hit the Banana wine.

I like the Doll idea, you could make a mint on replacement heads and shotgun charges!

And by the way, anyone know when Bill Hicks bought it, I have a gap in June that needs an excuse.

I have not read the other posts on purpose. I wanted my opinion to have no influence.

He was overrated, thought he was cool and arty.... mmm not really. He wrote a few good tunes and looked into it far too deeply. He also left a daughter (lots forget about her) and left her with Courtney...wow great upbringing!

I have never written a very serious thread on this forum before but......! I have now!

Wrote good songs and good lyrics and was clearly a very passionate musician which I can respect but I've never been much of a Nirvana fan, never gone as far as to buy any albums anyway. I do feel the huge following and worship has turned him and Nirvana into more of a cliche than a deity however, which is a shame as it's turned him into a bit of an icon for teen angst which has pretty much belittled his talent. I don't think he did enough to be put alongside people like Hendrix and Jim Morrison etc as an icon and I'm pretty sure he'd be fairly horrified to discover thats where he'd ended up as he seemed like a guy of fairly sound morale's and understood the relevance of his music and where it stood in relation to what Hendrix, the Stones, the Beatles,Elvis etc did for music.

Good musician and apart from leaving a young daughter with a clearly irresponsible mother.....a good guy.
I never thought too much of him until I read a quote of his in which he said something along the lines of "If your racist, sexist, homophobic or in anyway an asshole dont buy my records, I dont care if you like me because I don't like you", which i deeply respect.

In conclusion, good music, good guy but far too much fuss ruining what he did.
