I have to agree with wax here… mixologist doesn't sound too crazy a title and I got what it meant when I read it. Snafu staff tend to usually know their stuff and get you served pretty snappy regardless of your order (and the cocktails are decent). It's good that you don't see them ducking round the back to read "how to" books. The decent bar is a reason I'm finding myself going there more and more these days…

I assumed 'mixologist' was a Tom Cruise in 'Cocktail' type, whereas 'bartender' is more of a Jack Duckworth in Coronation St.

I tend to frequent the Jack Duckworth type places.....although I once had a cocktail in 1973 (if you call a tequila sunrise a cocktail??).

Cocktails, tattoos, piercings, shell suits, burberry hoodies, 'dance'music, those stretchy earhole thingies, mobile phones, emo glasses etc.........to think I missed out on all these great youth trends

I would like to say it's shite, so folk are put aff, and it's nice and empty, but it's rather good if the right DJs are holding it together... nae bad bands tae... Mondays and Thursdays leave Tuesdays and Fridays lost forever .

A couple of the guys are into flairing but as a general rule, they do this in their own time. Nothing worse than a full bar waiting to get served and bar staff are flipping bottles over their shoulders. Not knocking it, it's just not what we're about.

You should head down for 9pm this Sunday as we're hosting a Havana Club cocktail competition featuring pretty much the best mixologists in town. Bars like 99 and Dusk will have entrants, and we'll have our own Brett Murray competing also.

I was watching the telebox the other night and there was a program on about "mixology" so it's not a term plucked from the sky.

Snafu and Tiger Tiger are very different. Both the music and the people that go there. The thing that's great about Snafu is that it doesn't seem to attract mongs and wankers. Even on a friday and a saturday it's quite a civil place despite being busy. The doorstaff do a good job. I've certainly never seen kids in there and I can't say that for many places in Aberdeen.

Thanks for the support LB! Constructive feedback is always welcome, but everyone knows that if you post on online forums you have to put up with the lame minority who (from the comfort of their bedrooms/work desks) use the boards as an excuse to rile other users. That's just life!
