Adam Hills was amazing, not least because he invited the audience to dance to Devendra Banhart at the end of his set. I remember bombing down to the bar from the cloakroom and dancing like a loon.
Presidents of the United States were lovely guys, as was Adam Hills actually. One of my favourite parts of a night was hanging around the bar after a gig or comedy set and chatting to the folk who'd been on stage. The panto last christmas, Big Mama Juke and The Lightning Adventures of Neon, was amazing. Walking into work the morning after a Karloff gig and having to scrub fake blood off the tables (not to mention the looks of the lunch time customers as we tried to explain the 'blood' on the ceiling). Meeting some of my best friends and my now ex boyfriend, I'd be lost without them all. The Undertones playing the time before last, when Teenage Kicks came on the barstaff went crazy, dancing around and the punters seemed more entertained watching us rather than the band. King Creosote's last head lining gig and hearing 200 odd people singing 'Not One Bit Ashamed' which gave me chills. The second chef and desert chef coming out of the kitchen fighting with light sabers while the Imperial March played in the cafe. Corb Lund last year. Fudge Nights! A comedienne's (who's name I forget) show called Watching the Detectives and getting overly excited when she started talking about Monk. Gigs including Otis Lee Crenshaw, The Kills, Toots and The Maytals, The Research, Aberfeldy, Boy Lacks Patience, Johnny Cash Night and Elvisness. Just the atmosphere as a place to work. And Marj of course ![]() |

i don't think anyone's mentioned Rocket From The Crypt's tambourine man falling over and backwards rolling accidentally through the fire door and onto the street outside... or Radiohead touring the Bends...

crowdsurfing at radiohead in 95 was definitely the highlight for me, still have the tour t-shirt from that gig - boy it's geeky looking, different though! it was an amazing gig.
remember reef in 1996 being really good too, sure it was in december sometime. proclaimers a few years back were smashing as well. wildhearts was a good one too. |

The Grandmothers of Invention-Zappa's old band playing the 60's material the year after his death. Absolutely mind-blowing for a 16 year-old Zappa freak as I was at the time.
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci-Around the time of Gorky 5/Spansh Dance Troupe. Brilliant live show, they should have been huge Beta Band-pre High Fidelity, the Three EP's had just been released. Again, we thought they were going to be massive. I somehow managed to miss the Muse and Stereophonics gigs that took place around this time, shows what I knew! The Pound Club-£1 entry, £1 bottles all night, couple of decent local/up-and-coming bands on a Wednesdaqy night. Tons of fun. Odetta-as close to a religious experience as I've ever had at a gig. Roddy Frame-a couple of years ago, he was in top form, seemed a lot happier than at his previous appearances, and he played pretty much the entire first Aztec Camera album. Lithium Records launch night-a false dawn, but it was so encouraging at the time looking around the packed venue and knowing that everyone was pulling together in the same direction for the Aberdeen scene, however briefly. Actually, I've rarely gone to the Lemon Tree and not had a good time. Love with Arthur Lee was ruined by a couple of neds who cared more about starting fights than listening to music, but other than that it's been all good stuff. |

I'm hopeless at remembering favourite gigs and the like. The stupidest thing about the Lemnon Tree, despite the fact it was always going to be a music venue, it seemed to have been designed to be like you're living room. Remember when it first opened the stage was a stupid little triangle in the corner opposite where the stage is now ie where the dj is...was
