The Kays Lavelle
Originally an acoustic 2- piece from Dundee, Scotland, The Kays Lavelle have gradually added members, instruments, ideas and friendships to develop into a full 5 piece band. Our music bridges the divide of 5 distinct individuals to create songs, which have been described as "dark and beautiful." Since relocating to Edinburgh in 2003 and developing into a 5 piece by early 2005, we have patiently worked on developing our sound and on improving our catalogue of songs. Always striving to better ourselves, our hard work and determination have seen us slowly build a reputation at a local level. This process has been rewarding and eye-opening, fueling our creative desire to grow. Although only a rumour to many, June 2006 has seen the release of our debut EP "I can't believe you're here" with a sell out gig at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh as well as a number of major gigs at G2, T on the Fringe and Dundee Univeristy Freshers week. This recording has opened us up to new audiences, places and possibilities with radio airplay on Xfm and across the world. A young award-winning Scottish film maker, Matthew J Ross, has followed our journey over the last 5/6 months and plans to release a film about us. Not only is this an exciting adventure but also broadens the spectrum of potential listeners. It will hopefully open doors for both parties involved in the process. THE KAYS LAVELLE DEBUT 5 TRACK EP "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE HERE" IS NOW AVAILABLE TO BUY FROM THE BAND'S WEBSITE. ![]() Underbelly Formed in 2003, Underbelly (Alan Davison, Mikey Cameron, Simon Quinn and Simon Ferguson) settled quickly into their collective songwriting process, creating an ever expanding set of well constructed and catchy tunes, which have built up a loyal fan base in Edinburgh. Notable gigs for the band include supporting Zane Lowe favourites Cherry Falls, The Grim Northern Social, Cosmic Rough Riders and Noel Gallagher's first label signing, Proud Mary. In May Underbelly competed in the T in the Park unsigned competition T-Break to a packed Liquid Room in Edinburgh with a resulting profile boost in the city. September 2005 saw them head across the water to Belfast, Northern Ireland, (home soil for 3/4 of the band) for a whirlwind visit to promote their brand new EP 'Come in to Land', which has already debuted on Radio Ulsters Across the Line show responsible for airing the earlier efforts of such bands as Ash, Divine Comedy, Snow Patrol and Iain Archer. As well as playing one of Belfast's premier venues, The Empire, Underbelly performed an in-store session in Virgin Megastore, conducted interviews on local radio, and made an appearance on Ulster Televisions Primetime news and entertainments show UTV Live, before returning to Edinburgh to plan the Scottish launch of the EP.
