Andrew Mason, better known as DJ Monkone, has been a fixture on New
York City's music scene for over 10 years. After playing bass and
guitar in several Punk/Funk bands, he began DJing seriously in the
early '90s.

In 1998 Monk joined the legendary Underground Railroad, New York's
longest running Hip Hop radio show along side the likes of DJ Spinna and
Qool DJ Marv. Monk's set's combining rare original break beats,
cutting edge hip hop and jazz have gained praise from listeners like
Weldon Irvine, Kool Herc, Bobbito Garcia and Q-Tip to name a few.

In 2001 Monkone and friend Andre Torres began talking about starting a
music magazine. The following year they released the debut issue of
Wax Poetics, which has gone on to become the world's most respected
read for music lovers and beat diggers.

Monk's Dream, an official mix CD that showcased some of Monk's
precious musical gems was released in 2002 and created worldwide
demand. This contained 2 of Monk's own Re-Edits that proved he is also
a talented producer. Last years "Phonolog E.P" on Japan's
Ten12Records featured a tasty array of mid-tempo funk, jazz and
Latin-inspired dancefloor bombs. The follow up mix CD "Still Dreaming" was
released on Manchester's Fat City Records label, where Monk has a
residency at their monthly Friends & Family parties and has become
their favourite visiting DJ due to his musical yet party rocking sets.

His current New York residencies include APT, Table 50 in Manhattan
and Brooklyn's Black Betty's. He is also a senior writer and
buyer for trendsetting NYC record shop Turntable Lab, Editor of
Scratch Magazine, in the studio working on further solo productions and has
just compiled the 10th Anniversary compilation of the Pulp Fusion series.

A very busy, highly influential and well respected figure who we are
proud to present for Octobers edition of theGoodFoot. This is going to
be a night of cutting edge Hip Hop, dusty original Break Beats,
deep Disco, hard hitting Funk , Rock, Jazz, Soul, classics you know and
don't from all over the world, and one hell of a Party.....you dig!!
