Default Advice needed, gigs in Dundee

We've been trying to get a show in Dundee for sometime now but have been unsuccessful.
Promoters we've had contact with want to deal with their own local bands and that's it. I find this annoyingly short-sighted as I know most Aberdeen promoters regularly have out of town bands on the bill.
Anyway, we reckon we've just been talking to the wrong people.
can anyone advise us where or who to speak to?

you can hire a venue yourself and then hire your own bands and advertise it yourself - why hire the middle man? (it makes sense to hire a middle man, that is why)

there was somewhere we played in dundee where we did this and it actually worked out really for us, but i honestly cant remember what it was called
