Default Booking gigs in Edinburgh - 08-11-2007, 13:35

I'm looking to book a couple of gigs down in Edinburgh. It's been a while since I did any booking out of town and was wondering if anyone knows of good promoters down there or even myspace sites equivalent to Aberdeen promoters.

Had a look at Jock Rock but it's not very user friendly.

Edinburgh music scene is about 5 years behind everywhere else...

Some good venues though but atmospheres can be RuBbIsH!

Try Gaz at Whsitlebinkies

Cheers Gemz.

A couple of my band mates now live in Edinburgh, we have been "taking a break" for everyone to get settled into their new lives for about a year and a half now. I think it's probably time to make Edinburgh their gigging home town. Although we've been together for years, having a hibernation period makes it almost like starting from scratch.

utter nonsense

loads of venues that put on regular gigs

venues like henrys, bannermans, old subway, cabaret voltaire, the arc, the hive, whistlebinkies, bongo club, opium, cannons gait, the tron, backpackers

loads of bands, loads of clubnights

maybe the dreary indie scene is on its arse, but a lot of edinburgh is flying right now

plenty of contacts but prob not down your street. im sure if you were to look up those venues you shoudl be abel to find promoter contacts from there

if edinburgh is to be your hometown why not put your own gigs on? makes sense to do it yourself and do a better job and on your terms

I am just going by what i was told by the bands that i have had playing there. Also my cousin has been giggin in various bands for about 15 years in Edinburgh an even she says its a waste of time...

One of the Merkin bands Pearl Jammin is playing in Opium in Edinburgh this weekend...il let you know how they get on...

Its maybe good for punk/screamo/hardcore but i wouldnt know...

Just my thoughts but then again if your mates are staying in Edinburgh they will know the craic already.

Rock Austin il give you all my contacts for Edinburgh...you will have to wait till i get home though...

Much appreciated. Once we get things moving down there and get some of our own I will repay the favour.

Cheers

meh, your pals are out of loops then

plenty happening in various scenes, covers scene is booming, late night jazz and blues, folk performers from all over the world, dreary indie, normal indie, avant, metal, punk is all happening. perhaps your pals aint looking hard enough?

i can tell you that opium is not very good and should be avoided for gigs
