Thinking of heading down to either Glasgow or Edinburger next month some time and having a good scope round some shops playing every piece of gear i can find the interests me, so where's a good place to go where i can really compare some fine pieces of equipment?

I second Guitar Guitar & Merchant City.
Strung Out had some decent 2nd-hand stuff the last I was there and are great for repairs.

Strung Out Guitars in Glasgow is a great shop. Loads of ace used/vintage gear. I've started using them for servicing my guitars and amps. They did a great job setting up one of my basses and got an amp in with them just now getting a service.

There's a shop in Kelvinbridge on Otago street that has some cool stuff in it. Its not far from the Kelvinbridge underground station, so its not hard to get to. Think its called CC music? It use to be a sound control.

Guitar Guitar is good and I've had some good deals in Reverb, but every time I go in they seem to have less and less stock.

So far Guitar Guitar is my favourite from looking at the websites, does it have that big a selection in store as it does online?

Yeah, Guitar Guitar in Glasgow has a huge selection. Two floors worth. The walls are covered in guitars.

Yep, Fender & Gibson + others upstairs.

Suhr, PRS, Martin, custon shop stuff downstairs.

Great cselection of amps as well - Mesa, Engl, Bogner, VHT and so forth.

You should be able to find some in Glesca - I think Merchant City do Orange
