Anybody on here played the Blackstar Combo in anger? I was wondering how it sounds cranked up, and if it would be possible to play with it in a band situation on it's own or maybe through a 1x12 cab.

Not sure about the cab option, but Turner has one and he doesn't think it's loud enough to gig with on it's own. Nice amp though.

I have the head version. It sounds pretty good when its cranked but I modded mines and revalved with better quality tubes.

Even standard, its a cracking wee thing for the price and sounds really good through a V30 loaded cab

I reckon to use it on its own at a gig it would be fine as long as you were mic'd. Don't think it could be heard above a drummer in gig situations.

I've been considering saving for one of these just for home. They look sweet. Gonna go into Brucies and try one.

There is a vid on youtube somewhere where the guy plays a V an Halen song with everything up (even all the EQ at 10) and it sound brill!

I got one of these. It sounds ace. Now thinking of get the bigger combo...damn GAS! Not tried it in a band situation yet though, so can't say how it will cope.

Skuzzlebutt on here rated them, he generally knows the score, I'd like to try one myself.

It has an out, but it seems to be more of a DI with cab sim, than a speaker extension.

Maybe get two to play in stereo, might be loud enough.
