Default Amp repair?

My amp decided a little while ago it doesn't want to make any sound, look around the whole thing and can'r sus it out, there's no cosmetic damage anywhere, the cable leading into the speaker looks fine. Looks like i need to take it into a professional, i know brucies is £40+ pounds just for them to look at it, what's RnBs prices? or anyone know anywhere better?

The amp is a Marshall AVT100 by the way, i want it fixed just so i can flog it to be honest.

EDIT: I know there about a hundred other "amp repair" threads, but none seem to ave the right answer i'm looking for.

This happened to my guitar player about 15 months ago with his AVT100. He ended up sending it back to Marshall and getting it sorted by them. If it is still under warranty then do that. If you didn't buy it from RnB then I don't think they will have anything to do with it. I took the same guitar player's TSL 60 in there because the footswitch was faulty and they wouldn't touch it with a barge pole due to it being bought from GAK, not them. Something about how they have had problems in the past with other peoples merchandise, and don't want that rigmarole again.

Ahh, I'm sure where all the documents have gone, they weren't thrown out but they're definitely in hiding, anyone know how long the warranty lasts on these amps?

Pretty sure it's 3 years. Im not sure what you need document wise, being a bass player I've never really used Marshall let alone had one go wrong on me. Someone else on here surely knows though.

Consumer law says that any item should be 'fit for purpose' for a period of six years (it may be five in Scotland). So regardless of whether you can find warranty documents, if you can prove you purchased it in the last five years then they're still legally obliged to have it repaired (unless you have damaged it through fault of your own).

If you decide to go this route I will find the exact law for you to quote.

3years seems about right, but all this stuff gets put away in a box for "safe keeping" and is never seen again.

It is a very complicated process and the customer is required to prove that any fault was inherent and not as a result of "general" wear and tear or misuse. It obviously only works with the company you bought it from not the manufacturer as well.

The serial code on the amp will give date of manufacture. Which is bound to be later than August 2004 if you got it new for Christmas in 2007. So, you should be able to go down the legal route with that.
